The Official Synopsis for Marvel Studios' Thor: The Dark World

Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba and Stellan Skarsgard returns. Not sure if Anthony Hopkins returns as Odin though.

Christopher Eccleston will be the villain as Malekith, ruler of the Dark Elves.

The first Thor is actually my most favorite live-action CB movie and when I heard the guy who directs Game of Thrones was directing this as well, it confirmed that I will definitely be at the midnight showing f this.

I'm actually really excited for this. In order of the 3 individual movies (Ed Norton Hulk doesn't count IMO), I think I like IM>Thor>>>>>>>Capt.

Hopefully Capt America 2 really comes thru well :pimp:

Alan Taylor is directing it. He's been a great TV director most recently for Game of Thrones. Interesting to see how he translates to the big screen.
