1. gundam Wing. All time fave, story giant robots. Cant go wrong.
2. elfen Lied. Its really f'ed up but a must watch.
3. naruto part 1 minus the fillers. Much like the manga, its a masterpiece. Part 2, ehh not so much

If we were talking about movies, Id have to fill my list up with miyazaki films

FMA is a great anime, So is FMA brotherhood...and Gundam has way more Eps then 49 unless you're just talking a Gundam Wing..

One Piece (is the greatest)
Akira (ahead of it's time)
Naruto (Pre- time skip)- I have to say, I don't touch the anime adaptation anymore, it's a disgrace.

Honorable Mention:
Toriko (My current fav after One Piece)
Detective Conan
Samurai Champloo (the music, whew! so sick)
DBZ- *sigh* Watching clips now, it was flawed, but it is a landmark in anime history.
Hunter x Hunter (same guy who made "Yu Yu Hakusho"), but this is his magnum opus.
Bleach (-_-) FELL OFF after the soul society arc.

I'mm slacking on Studio Ghibli's work.

If that's the same as the OVA, then yes, it is quite amazing.  Only bad thing is it takes months, sometimes even a year for a new episode

I dont understand the love. I mean, yea nostalgia factor, but its horrid now.
