Wrestling Thread Jan 19-Feb: 1/29 LIVE Smackdown 8pm et - Bryan v Kane Casket Match

Dolph Ziggler should have been the 2nd important face during the initial run of the Authority against Dazzler. If he was given the opportunities that the Big Show was given during that feud, he would have been elevated enough to had been a viable candidate to win the Rumble.
nope show deserves to be in every big spot

:smh:

- We noted before that a fan sent word that other fans were blocking the parking lot at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia last night, not allowing WWE talents to exit after the Royal Rumble. Fans were upset over the Rumble show. Another fan, Nate Albright, was in the back parking lot after the show and passed along his account of what happened:

Most fans were very excited and happy to catch a glimpse of the talent. Unfortunately, there were a few morons who ruined it, the type who give wrestling fans a bad name.

One such guy was banging on the Usos car with his souvenir metal folding chair from the floor seats. The driver slammed on the brakes and an Uso got out from the passenger side while the heckler TOOK OFF. The Uso yelled, “Come on, man! This ain’t no wrestling ****! Let’s go!” People cheered for this and laughed as the idiot with the chair ran away.

There was one doofus in particular who was really making a scene, and the car carrying Fandango caught the worst of it. This “fan” set up his souvenir chair directly in front of Fandango’s SUV and wouldn’t let him pass. Some other idiot was slamming a Hulk Hogan poster against the passenger side windshield and yelled, “Welcome to Philly! Hulk Hogan rules the universe! This is Philly and you ain’t ****! We don’t like WWE’s ********!” Fandango, to his credit, stared straight ahead, but he looked really annoyed.

The same guy with the chair set up in front of the car JBL was driving, but JBL swerved and went around him, blaring his horn. Byron Saxton was in the passenger seat laughing.

Paige was super cool. Her driver beeped the horn as Paige rolled down the window and slapped hands with fans.

Ryback was also awesome. He rolled down the window of his truck and pumped his fist as the crowd chanted “Feed me more!” He was laughing and smiling.

Cameron was driving a red Camaro. She rolled down the window while stopped in traffic to talk to fans. Very cool gesture.

Other superstars and divas waived politely and smiled as they drove by, including Cody Rhodes and Eden, Lilian Garcia and Tyson Kidd and Nattie.

Some were just stone faced and stared straight ahead, including Luke Harper (who was traveling alone), Erick Rowan (Mizdow was in the passenger seat using his phone), Ziggler (ignoring the chants of “You got screwed!), Kane (who looked hilarious in a tiny Mazda) and J&J Security.

For the most part, everyone (fans and talent) were pretty cool, but there were some bad apples in the bunch causing a scene and annoying the superstars and divas.

-Shaheen, co-host of The Hot Tag Podcast, passed along some on-site reports from the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia last night. Situated near the backstage area, Shaheen and his friends called to Bryan as he walked by them during the show and he said Bryan clearly heard them but did not interact with any of the fans in their general vicinity.

“Not exactly sure what happened, but we were near backstage and he walked right by all of us,” Shaeen said. “We said hello and he paused, looked at us with a blank stare and then walked off. He looked super pissed and completely ignored all of is. It was very awkward to say the least.”

“It was really weird,” he added. “I know people will want to believe that he was just ‘selling’ it, but it was strange. I’d like to think that I have a pretty good understanding of kayfabe and this seemed legit. He wasn’t selling anything. There were 10 of us there and he really came off like an a—hole, which is really unusual for Bryan.”

He discusses the incident a bit further in the video above.

Shaheen said that the Philly crowd was “beyond pissed” at how the Rumble unfolded, noting that the “We want refunds!” chants really picked up after Dolph Ziggler’s elimination.

-Despite how Daniel Bryan was booked at last night’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and this news came from before the Rumble happened, it’s said that Vince McMahon is “completely sold” on Bryan and is “shocked” at how Bryan has been able to maintain his big babyface crowd reactions while off TV for so long.

A WWE source noted that Vince and other top WWE officials might not consider Bryan the face of the company, Vince is still very impressed with him.

On a related note, there was some speculation about Bryan being hurt after his first match back on RAW against Bray Wyatt. Word is that he did not re-injure his arm and people backstage were actually saying he looked very sharp in the ring. With that said, Bryan’s arm is still not 100% from before.

Few things.

First point: The final four were two giants and a Russian monster, all who were eliminated by Superman, Roman Reigns.  So there's your answer on that.

Second point: If you had no plans of Bryan to win the Rumble, then why did they rush him back two weeks before the Rumble and put him in the match?  Anyone with half a brain could have told you exactly what was going to happen.  If they kept Bryan off TV until February, things would have been just fine and there would have been none of the backlash.

Third point: I don't see Reigns turning heel.  It would be a much more natural fit, but Vince wants Reigns as the next face of the company.  And as we saw last night, he's determined to do it no matter what the fans say.

Completely agree on all 3 points, especially number 2.

Why not have D Bry come back mid february, face Kane at Fast Lane or something.
I'm convinced Bryan was brought back to boost subscribers heading into their earnings report next week.
The subscriber # they report next week will be the # as of Dec 31st, so it had no effect.

They could mention a boost in the guidance. Who knows. I hope they miss, get clobbered and wake up.

Roman did have a buildup though. He was the leader of the Shield who pretty much most fans liked. That was his buildup. It isn't like he's some no name wrestler

He was labeled superstar of the year when he missed a good chunk of the year when Rollins Brock or ziggler deserved. Stuff like that.
