I’m 47 and my friend in 7th grade had a pair and I stared at them everyday in Social Studies. The part where the bag and poly meet slowly disintegrated all year to the point that the airbag popped. I’ve wanted a pair since 1987… that’s a long time.

I always thought the reason they got rid of the bigger air bag was because the heel had a tendency to fall apart. So, they went for the smaller bag in 1988 or so with the vulcanized outsole. This kid in my 7th grade class had the original and I spent half the year watching them slowly deteriorate.
