Hope it doesn't happen, hope my city gets CP3, but its true, the Lakers BIG 3 vs the Knicks BIG 3, not comparable. Melo & Kobe may cancel each other out on offense, but defense and court awareness, no way. Also D12 dominates and sits on Amare's game, D12 can easily be the most valuable player in the league, big men are the rarest of them all. Clips, Warriors, Celtics in Paul trade talks

As the New Orleans Hornets push closer to making a decision on where to trade Chris Paul, the All-Star point guard has indicated the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors could significantly raise their chances of keeping him beyond this season if they also sign center Tyson Chandler, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.

Paul hasn’t promised he would re-sign with one of those teams following the 2011-12 season if they acquired Chandler, but league sources said Chandler could make a significant difference in ultimately swaying Paul to commit to a long-term deal.

Three teams in pursuit of Paul believe the Hornets will push for final offers – and make a decision – by the start of training camp on Friday, front-office sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Clippers’ and Warriors’ packages are the most intriguing to New Orleans general manager Dell Demps, league sources said.

So far, talks between the Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers have gathered little, if any, traction, sources said. The Boston Celtics remain aggressive in their pursuit of Paul and held discussions with New Orleans on Tuesday.

The Hornets were significantly engaged in talks with the Clippers in talks on Tuesday, but the Clippers have shown no desire to meet Chandler’s request for a contract starting at more than $12 million a year, sources said. The Clippers are worried about an ability to pay significant money to Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Paul and Chandler over the long term.

The Clippers would have to include 23-year-old restricted free-agent center DeAndre Jordan in a package to get Paul, along with forward Al-Farouq Aminu, guard Eric Bledsoe and the 2012 first-round pick they acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Clippers are more attractive to Paul than the Warriors or Boston Celtics, because of the chance to be paired with Griffin and Gordon. Golden State has been aggressive in its pursuit of Chandler independent of Paul, but the Warriors don’t have as appealing a supporting cast for Paul. The Warriors’ offer for Paul is centered around Stephen Curry and rookie guard Klay Thompson.

The Hornets consider the Clippers and Warriors to have the most desirable trade assets, but Paul has been hesitant to commit to signing a contract extension to remain with either team unless they surround him with enough talent. Paul’s ultimate hope has been a long-term pairing with Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, but Paul did play three seasons with Chandler in New Orleans, where they came within a game of reaching the 2008 Western Conference finals.

As constituted, the Hornets prefer the Clippers and Warriors packages, but were still discussing several scenarios with the Celtics – including third-team trade possibilities and sign-and-trade money for restricted free agent forward Jeff Green. The Hornets prefer Curry to Rajon Rondo, sources said, but a third team could sweeten the Celtics package beyond the core of Rondo and Green.

The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks also have aggressively pursued Paul. Dallas remains a long shot in the talks, but has been canvassing other teams for players that would interest the Hornets.

The Rockets would offer some combination of Kevin Martin, Kyle Lowry, Luis Scola, Patrick Paterson and draft picks. The Clippers are intriguing to the Hornets because of the possibility of the emerging young Jordan, who would likely receive a $45 million-$50 million, five-year contract in a sign-and-trade deal.

If the Clippers don’t trade for Paul, they will try to ultimately sell him on signing with them as a free agent in July, with the allure of Jordan on a less expensive long-term deal than they would have to pay Chandler now.

NEW YORK -- The NBA today released its complete 2011-12 regular-season schedule and broadcast schedules for ABC, ESPN, TNT, NBA TV, and NBA on ESPN Radio, contingent on the timely ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement. The league's 66th season will feature each team playing 66 regular-season games and was unveiled tonight exclusively on NBA TV at 7 p.m. ET.


Following the season tip-off on Christmas Day, with a five-game slate previously announced, Kia NBA Tip-Off '11 includes 109 NBA games highlighted by a series of marquee doubleheaders Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Thursday, Dec. 29, on TNT, and Friday, Jan. 6, on ESPN. NBA TV will also present five doubleheaders during the period starting Monday, Dec. 26, through Wednesday, Jan. 4.

This marks the second consecutive season that Kia Motors, the Official Automotive Partner of the NBA, has been the title partner of NBA Tip-Off.

On TNT, the first doubleheader on Tuesday, Dec. 27, features the Miami Heat playing its home opener against the Boston Celtics (8 p.m. ET). The second game features the Utah Jazz traveling to L.A. to face the Lakers (10:30 p.m. ET). The Thursday Dec 29 double-feature includes a rematch of last year's Western Conference Finals as the Dallas Mavericks travel to Oklahoma City (8 p.m. ET) to play the Thunder, followed by the Lakers hosting the New York Knicks (10:30 p.m. ET).

After four games on Christmas Day, ESPN's coverage continues during Kia NBA Tip-Off '11 on Jan. 6, with a Friday doubleheader with the Chicago Bulls against the Orlando Magic (8 p.m. ET). In the second game, the Portland Trail Blazers travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns (10:30 p.m ET).

NBA TV tips off the season with a Monday night doubleheader when the Houston Rockets play at Orlando at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the Sacramento Kings hosting the Lakers at 10 p.m. ET on Dec. 26.

TNT

In its 28th year of NBA coverage, TNT will televise 45 regular-season games, including 32 as part of Thursday night doubleheaders and a doubleheader on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. TNT will also televise NBA All-Star 2012 festivities in Orlando Feb. 24-26, culminating with its exclusive presentation of the NBA's 61st All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 26.

ABC & ESPN

ESPN will televise 75 regular-season games, which include 23 games on Wednesdays and 25 on Fridays. ESPN telecasts are also available via ESPN3, with nearly all on ESPN Mobile TV. ESPN Deportes (ESPN's Spanish-language U.S. sports network) will present 19 games and ESPN 3D will also televise select regular-season games. The ABC national television schedule consists of 15 exclusive regular-season broadcasts and tips off with a doubleheader on Christmas Day.

The NBA on ABC and ESPN presents flexible scheduling throughout the regular season in order to provide the most compelling matchups to a national audience.

NBA TV

NBA TV will present its 96-game slate, which will include 33 doubleheaders this season. For the fourth consecutive year, NBA TV will feature Fan Night on Tuesdays throughout the season. On Fan Night, NBA fans are given the opportunity to vote for the games they want to see televised nationally on NBA TV on that particular night. Fan Night begins this season on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

ESPN RADIO

The NBA on ESPN Radio's 23-game regular-season scheduled begins opening day with Miami at Dallas on Christmas Day at 2:30 p.m. ET. The NBA on ESPN Radio will also broadcast all the events from NBA All-Star 2012 in Orlando.

2011-12 Key Television Matchups

Highly-anticipated television matchups throughout the regular season include:

HEAT VS. MAVERICKS
(ABC: Dec. 25, 2:30 p.m. ET; TNT: March 29, 8 p.m. ET): Both games between 2011 Finals opponents, the Heat and Mavericks, will be televised nationally. In addition to ABC's presentation of the Christmas Day season-opener, TNT will air the regular season rematch when the Mavericks travel to Miami on March 29.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY (Jan. 16)
The NBA will again celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a full schedule of games on Jan. 16, including four nationally-televised contests. On ESPN, the Bulls visit the Memphis Grizzlies (1 p.m. ET), followed by the Atlanta Hawks hosting the Toronto Raptors on NBA TV (4 p.m. ET). TNT will feature an evening doubleheader beginning with the Celtics hosting the Thunder (8 p.m. ET), followed by a match of Western Conference powerhouses as the Mavericks visit the Lakers (10:30 p.m. ET).

LAKERS VS. MIAMI
(TNT: Jan. 19, 8 p.m. ET): In one of the league's marquee matchups, the Heat hosts the Lakers Jan. 19.

CELTICS VS. LAKERS
(TNT: Feb. 9, 8 p.m. ET; ABC: March 11, 3:30 p.m. ET): Both games between the NBA's two all-time winningest franchises will be nationally televised as the Lakers visit the Celtics Feb. 9, and Boston travels to Los Angeles March 11.

BULLS VS. HEAT
(ABC: Jan. 29, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN; March 14, 8 p.m. ET): Last year's Eastern Conference finalists will play two games on national TV as the Bulls visit the Heat Jan. 29, and Miami then travels to Chicago March 14.

For the eighth straight season, ABC will exclusively broadcast The Finals, which tips off next June. This season, TNT is the exclusive home of the 2012 NBA Western Conference Finals and ESPN will exclusively televise the 2012 NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

NBA LEAGUE PASS

Once again, NBA LEAGUE PASS will offer up to 40 out-of-market games per week. Games included in NBA LEAGUE PASS are in addition to those available on ABC, TNT, NBA TV, ESPN, ESPN2 and local networks. NBA LEAGUE PASS is available on DIRECTV, DISH Network, and most digital cable and telephone providers, and is also available for fans to access on NBA.com and select mobile devices.

NBA CHRISTMAS DAY GAMES:

The season begins Sunday, Dec. 25 with five televised games. The Celtics visit the Knicks to tip off the season on TNT (12 p.m. ET). ABC then presents a double-header when the Mavericks host the Heat in a rematch of The Finals (2:30 p.m. ET), followed by the Bulls visiting the Lakers (5 p.m. ET). ESPN rounds out the day with a pair of games when the Thunder hosts the Orlando Magic (8 p.m. ET), and the Clippers visit the Golden State Warriors (10:30 p.m. ET).

Well that knocks out the Clippers, and maybe even the Warriors if they don't free up some cap space, because the Mavericks are likely I'd say to go for an offer like that, though nothing has been reported. That is unless Tyson just wants out of Dallas in general, which is possible. I think the Mavericks just want to let the rest of the teams set the market price for him though.

I'm kind of surprised to see the Clippers offering up DeAndre, but I guess if Warriors are offering Curry and Rondo for the Celtics, I guess they had to up the ante.

Berger is reporting that LAC was offering BOTH DeAndre and EG, but I can't say that's good for the chances of Paul staying.

Interesting to see the Mavericks' get involved, though I doubt any of their offers can match anything like LAC can. The best thing I can think of is Beaubois, expirings, and whoever else they want.

Anyway, every NBA junkie scanned the list of free agents this month, made a few faces, laughed a few times, and at some point, had the same reaction: "Ooooooh, I like Arron Afflalo!"

How can you not like him? You're getting him at age 26, which means he still has a chance to get about 20 percent better. He's already a classic Table Test guy — he brings a few things to the table and doesn't take anything off it. On the right team, you can pencil Afflalo in for 30 to 35 minutes per night, excellent defense, 13 to 15 points per game, 50/40/80 shooting percentages (FGs, 3s and FTs), good chemistry and a general efficiency/consistency that makes you totally comfortable. You know what you're getting with Arron Afflalo. Almost to a tee.

So what's that worth? I believe someone will pay Afflalo $50 million for four years. I also believe that he's worth it.

Here's where you say, "Wait … what???" And I'm with you … on the surface, this seems nuts. Then you start peeling it apart like an onion. We know teams have too much money to spend this month (as we covered in Day 1), and we know restricted offers always skew high. So for Afflalo to reach that $50 million prediction, two dynamics need to be in play.

Dynamic No. 1: The 2-guard landscape needs to be much weaker than anyone realizes.

Hold on, I'm about to freak you out. We've taken the 2-guard landscape for granted ever since Jordan's heyday; there were always enough quality 2-guards to go around. That's not the case anymore.

That's a pretty motley list, right? By my calculations, Afflalo is the 12th-best short-term 2-guard (if you're trying to win a title this season), and the 10th-best long-term 2-guard (if you're looking at the next five years). And actually, if the goal is to WIN a title, I'd rather have two-way players like Afflalo, Matthews or Harden over Ellis or Martin (both one-dimensional scorers who couldn't guard Yi Jianlian's chair). But that's just me.
Regardless, it's not crazy to think Afflalo is worth $50 million. When you compare him to the other available 2-guards, he's four years younger than Richardson (and a much better defender); he's a much better all-around player than Young or Stuckey (two classic good-stats-on-bad-teams guys); he brings more to the table than Crawford (a valuable bench scorer, but that's it); he's a much safer bet than Smith or Thornton; and he's not washed-up like Redd or Carter.

It was leaked that they want Curry, and this move would give them what they see as a more attractive piece.
I dont think that would be a bad move even if the flip for Paul doesnt happen, just cause Curry can be a better ( not as good as Rondo) defender. Rondo isnt going to be a better shooter in his prime imo.

Maybe we should have a PG debate of sorts.... But focus it on if an elite PG makes you better than an elite player at certain other positions does...

Our schedule might legit have 54 wins on it.
