Would you rather face Kansas State, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa State, and 3 of the Big 12 South teams each year...or Alabama, LSU,Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State, and 3 of the SEC East teams each year?
That's almost a no-brainer as to which could give you an easier chance of winning.
Sure, the recruiting would probably be a little bit harder, but I don't think it would be that much tougher.

Mark Mangino made $2.3M this year... Money ain't an issue at KU...
I'm not saying Kansas is a better job, I'm just sayin it's a BCS job in a terrible division that he could likely compete with Nebraska to win yearin and year out... All things considered, it's a hell of a lot easier to compete for conference titles and BCS Bowl games in the Big XII North than it isthe SEC...
Let's not act like Ole Miss is some premium, final destination job that he'd be crazy to leave, either...

Having a winning record over those teams has nothing to do with having an easier time winning at a different place.
Nobody ever said that he couldn't win at Ole Miss, just that it would probably be easier to win at Kansas. Two completely different statements...

Probably not, but they're looking to hit a home run after firing Mangino... Kansas has had some major success the last couple of years and theathletic department finally seems genuinely interested in pumping resources into the program... I said earlier I don't know why he'd leave Ole Miss forKansas, and it's likely he's just trying to gain bargaining leverage for a raise at Ole Miss... All I'm sayin is winning in the Big XII North iseasier than winning in the SEC...
Ole Miss ain't ever gonna overtake LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, or Alabama... Maybe Auburn, too...
And he's made the lateral move once from Arkansas to Ole Miss, so...

He was offered a pay raise to $2.4 million to remain the coach and turned it down and resigned. Not sure how that's being fired...
I edited my last post saying that he probably felt forced out by the fans, but I don't see how being offered a raise to remain the coach is the same asbeing fired.

One of the other issues between the two schools is the focus of the athletic programs. Football rules in the SEC, while it takes a backseat to the basketballprogram at Kansas. All signs point to Kansas being more than serious about spending a lot of money on this football team, though.
I think that's just something to keep in mind regarding this situation...would Nutt wanna go up to Lawrence and battle with getting the respect that thebasketball program does? Or could he maybe be wanting to go up there to try to put the football program on the same level as the basketball program? Or is hejust using this as leverage to get more money at Ole Miss?
Whatever happens with Kansas, I just hope they stay away from Nolan Cromwell.

Again, the same names, Sunseri and Smart from Bama, Hudson from ECU, Bud Foster from VT. And I think that Mark Stoops from 'Zona (And former coach for thecanes circa the Ed Reed- Sean Taylor era) has interviewed, or will be interviewing shortly for the job. The hangup being that he may become a HC atUNLV/Youngstown St.
Also Rick Trickett, FSU's OL coach has interviewed for the Marshall job. I think the leader for that job is buddy from Central Michigan
