2014 NBA Draft Thread

Here we go with the Ben Wallace comparison's again. :lol

Young is nowhere close to the rebounder and defender Wallace is, we're talking about arguably the best defensive talent/rebounder of this generation.

Denver came the hell up, got AA/Gary Harris and that huge cat from Bosnia.

That big dude from Bosnia, Nurkic, is gonna end up being Asik at the least.

Trading away Gary Harris and Nurkic for McDermott is not a good look unless McDermott reaalllllly pans out.

That was also a terrible deal for the Magic. Seemed like every playoff team in the league wanted Afflalo and they gave him right back to his old team just for a rotational player that comes around every year.

Patric Young > Robert Sacre

Patric Young > Reggie Evans

:\

Lakers picked up DeAndre Kane.

Jordan and him will eat in summer league. :hat

Aside from being a good post defender Patric is nowhere near Ben. Ben was a great rebounder, could even hold his own out on the perimeter defensively and was a great weak side defender as well. Patric doesn't have any of those instincts but he'll probably make the league regardless as an end of the bench big man.

Ben didn't have it all either tho. Remember his first few years? I wanna say it wasn't until he got with Doc Rivers that he began to really flourish. (Deandre Jordan anyone?)

What's the obsession with Patric Young? His game never developed in the four years he was at Florida. Y'all caught up in his muscular physique and missing the fact that he literally has NO skill for his position.

He doesn't have great post moves or any kind of jumpshot, but to say he didn't improve at UF is wrong. Pat developed into one of the best post and pick & roll defenders in college basketball. He won SEC defensive player of the year, he also has a really good hook shot from both sides.

Man **** Lebron and his I need more help BS if any of this goes through. Dude ruined the NBA with this super team crap.

Duncan signs for less to play with his superstar friends  -- "team-player", "winner", "smart", ":| "

LeBron signs for less to play with his superstar friends -- "BS", "ruined the NBA", "super-team crap"

Kobe signs for more than hes worth and cripples his team -- "competitor", "fearless", "feedin his family", "MAMBAH"

It's different.

Duncan been there for 15+ years.

Didn't Duncan threaten to leave for Orlando at some point?

Kobe demanded trades during 05 I think.

Biggest difference is, those teams had coaches and front offices actually upgrade the rosters.

my point is that with the heart he showed in college I just don't see how he gets overlooked. He's got the skills to compete.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't like Duncan was saying, "upgrade the roster or I'm gone." He became a unrestricted FA and Orlando made a hard push for him. He was seriously considering going to the Magic, but stuck with the Spurs in the end.

Imo, a better comparison for Patric young is Jason maxiell. Been Wallace Is setting the bar too high

that's fair. Either way he deserves a shot over these guys that'll never make it to the states or end up in the d-league. We'll see what happens

He doesn't have any skills :lol

He was SEC defensive player of the year. He may not be gifted offensively but it's all good I'm not gonna cape for dude any further. Obviously not a lot of people see the talent. Mainly those who's opinion truly matters.

Listening to Sam hinkies press conference. Nobody is buying the saric pick. You can't sell 2 years to these fans. 2 years. Minimum

How was that a bad trade for Chicago? They got exactly who they wanted. They needed a shooter and someone that could come in and play right away. Instant offense for a team who goes on 5 min scoring droughts in crunch time.

Harris wouldn't have got much burn plus we have Butler at the 2. Harris jump shot isn't touching Doug's, add in the fact Dunleavy wont be back that move was a no brainer. They weren't keeping both of their picks, it was Stauskis or McDermott the whole time. I like Harris and I think he's a better fit in Den compared to Chicago.

Outside of Johnson and Teague, the Bulls are usually spot on with their draft picks so I expect Doug to pan out.

Nothing wrong with the chess pieces making moves themselves if the person playing is Sarah Palin-like.

I guess my hang up is that with GMs in the NBA they seem so interested in making the savvy pick, the analytical pick, the guy they can stash for 2 years, clear cap space, maybe he comes maybe he doesn't, gotta save my job another year.... I saw his video on youtube and sent a guy to brazil to scout him... he's 2 years away from being 2 years away :lol

what about the guys we saw all year playing their heart out diving on the floor against the best the NCAA had to offer and winning?

Jabari Brown anyone???????

remember him? Nearly 20 a game?

Best the NCAA has to offer doesn't really mean that much.

It's all about coach's egos in that league.

Do you think Saric, Noel and Embiid will be able to play/start together? I watched some footage of Saric from his playoff games that he just had and he was really knocking down his 3's. Think he went 9/18 combined from 3 in his last two playoff games.

And when do you think Micic will be coming over? Kendall Marshall comparison doesn't really get me hyped :lol

Saric's jump shot was never broken, just flat, he's made the necassary adjustments and it has paid off, he's not a lights out shooter, but he's good enough to be respected.

Well the abouslte best case scenario for Micic might be Jose Calderon if he improves his shooting, Jose's was underrated in his prime so thats pretty good, people are saying 1-2 years.

I remember another 6'9 guy with a great physique that I wanna say all but two GMs in the league slept on before he finally peaked...

no hyperbole, I think Young can be and will be that good. No one needs him to be Dirk Ibaka or some create-a-player. But if he can do what he did in school making effort plays and running the floor well defending. SIGN THAT MAN.

:lol

One of the worst comparisons I have EVER seen on NT. :rollin

Why they dark skin brolic dudes?

Patric Young has short arms, low shoulders, short standing reach, he's a poor rebounder, can't block shots what on earth does he have to do with Ben Wallace? :lol

Still can't believe how far off the grid James Michael McAdoo has fallen. At one point in his career, you could make an argument for him being a top 15 pick. As the dude who works in the Mexican restaurant around the corner from my house would say... "Wha Happa?"

He wasn't that good his freshman year...he looked good because of how good everybody else was

Yeah, it's funny. After the McDonalds game, going into his freshman year...Mcaddo was seen as a top 5 pick lmao.

I always felt he had no skill, but scouts were on him heavy after the All star games...and projecting he could play the 3.

He really messed up not coming out after his Freshman year. He would have been a top 15 pick even after a Subpar freshman season.
