24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

had a 30 day late payment cause life on a really lousy card that I've really only kept open cause it's 16 years old, they reported it to the bureaus as 30 days past due & I lost 99 points on at least 1 of my scores cause of this if I keep balances low as always & pay cards/loans as agreed per usual how long does this take to rebound- few months, year, year & a half or longer?

Have auto pay set up on EVERYTHING

just have the minimum amount so this never happens again

yeah I normally pay em all off each month I was just running around out here busy & Stuff. no excuses but I mean you forget stuff + I've had a lot of mail lost lately too. it was srsly just like a $60 balance. am going to contact the card company & see what they're willing to do since I've had the account so long but I'm keeping expectations low.

Bank of America had me miss a payment back in 2019 because their autopay is set up in an idiotic way. It's not a straight forward autopay like every bank. Needless to say I closed my account with them.

Had a similar situation. My score tanked after a silly mishap. I blame my dad So I called Synchrony Bank to see if they can forgive the late payment…it was 60-90 days late….they didn’t. Then I reached out to Lexington Law. They advised me to use my credit card for every purchase and pay it off every month before my statement arrives. I did that and it helped me get my score back to what it was within a year.

maybe it did put me below 700 on certain scores there are a bunch of em. yes it's from over a month ago I've been that busy. it was srsly like a $62 or $66 dollar balance I mean I know the rules but still.

You can always try writing a goodwill letter to them and ask them to reconsider, especially if you have a spotless history with them.

You should send an appeal letter to the credit bureaus. Basically, tell them it was a mistake on the creditor's side.

I started closing those petty accounts or those with super high annual payments that I dont use and just continued on my regular use with my other cards. Usually takes 2-3 months to get back to the same score.

No way I could max out my Roth and pay for all my kid’s stuff, bills house etc off 75k, no shot.

When I was single making 85k just at work in CO... yeah that was probably the happiest Ive been before the birth of my son... but I was still somewhat fresh to beautiful Colorado and I was bangin like 3 fine *** chicks at once but yeah man that cant last forever I guess cuz I sure wasnt usin rubbers but I love my sons word up
