*Lovie Smith*.........."Rex Grossman is our quarterback".......lol. Man, I just landed here in Dallas and the whole mood of all the Skins fans here on the plane changed once they heard the news. I told all you Skins fans on here that Shanahan will be the downfall of this team and now your seeing it for real.

*For those of you defending McNabb, what are your reasons for him STAYING as the starting QB for the remainder of the season?
The Philadelphia Eagles traded McNabb to the Washington *******sfor a pair of draft picks on Sunday night. The Eagles will receive asecond-round pick (37th overall) in this month's NFL draft and either athird or fourth-round pick next year.
Two weeks after they caused an uproar by benching him in the final 1:50 of a loss to the Detroit Lions, the ******** on Monday signed McNabb to a five-year contract extensionworth $78 million, with about $40 million guaranteed, according to hisagent, Fletcher Smith.

A source told ESPN NFL Insider Michael Smith, who first reported the agreement, that McNabb's contract could be worth $88 million if the contract incentives are reached.

Losing the draft picks suck...but I think EVERYONE expected more out of McNabb this season.  He's been really bad.  Hindsight is 20/20, but you make that trade 10x outta 10 if it's on the table.

For the last part...

One of the contract's most significant points is a payment due, when the ******** must decide whether to pay McNabb a $10 million option bonus. If they do, it would trigger the rest of the contract and make Washington liable for McNabb's $2.5 million base salary in 2011.

He Will Be Cut

Shanahan is doing a terrible job in Washington..
first he trades for McNabb.. then he bench him, cause he says he wasnt able to run the "2Minute Offense"..
then they sign him to a 5 year extension for $78Mil..
And Now this..?

McNabb is just too damn nice.. thats why they keep doing this to him...

Shanny said McNabb is the 3rd QB behind John Beck for the remainder of the season.

You're missing the point Double J's. What happened to patience? This team was not built to win anything this year and maybe even next year.

First of all, to throw this mediocre season on to McNabb's shoulders is A)unfair B)stupid. Secondly, look at who McNabb is being replaced by. Thirdly, to downplay the trade of a 2nd and 4th rd picks is absurd. It reeks of a Cerrato / Snyder move which is what we all despised for a long time. It's been a circus all year around here man. And now this.

What point am I missing?  How much patience do the Skins need to show with McNabb?  What have you seen from him that suggests that the Skins OWE HIM the dignity of playing the final 3 games or be on the roster in 2011?  He hasn't been good.  At all.  As I said before, I don't think Grossman is the answer, but I have no issue with seeing what either he, or John Beck can do.  McNabb has been completely ineffective.  This is how fickle the fanbase is at times....when Gibbs was here, folks wanted him to bench Brunell when he was playing like %#*.  Gibbs stayed loyal and Brunell and his noodle-arm stayed under center....now we have a coach who actually benches our starting QB when there is no hope to the season, and now it's a problem....can't have it both ways.  Look, I think that certain aspects of how McNabb was dealt with by the Shanahan's wasn't exactly done in good taste....but at the end of the day, McNabb has to look at himself and realize that he's been terrible.  He has a lot of pride, and the fact that this benching pretty much signals the end of his career here in DC, remains yet another botched move by the SKins.  Again....if that deal is on the table, you make it 10x out of 10....McNabb is a good guy, but I have ZERO issue w. the benching.

Use these last three games as an evaluation.  Get some of these older guys out of the lineup (Phillip Daniels, Raybach, etc) and plug in some of the younger players and see what they can do.  I hope Shanahan guts the roster and really gets serious about rebuilding the team.  The Skins are awful at every skill position and need to get better.

I rarely agree w. Marley, but he's 100% right....there is no point in keeping an ineffective McNabb under center.  Why not see what Grossman or Beck can do in these final 3 games.

@ some of you choosing to overlook that clause that essientally bails the Skins out of the contract this next offseason.

But hell, we should just start Beck instead of that crap Grossman.

The point is that everything is being MISHANDLED.

Would you not at least try and see what McNabb can do when he's not behind Rabach and that porous O-Line? Or how about giving him legit WR's? A Defense that gives them good field position? What exactly can u expect from your QB when he has none of those things?

I'm sorry but if you're telling me that you're going to trade a 2nd and 4th round picks, I would like more than 12 games to evaluate the return on my investment. Especially, when he has NO SUPPORTING CAST.
