Just because M comes before D in PEMDAS doesn't mean you do it first.

The answer is 9 if you follow the proper order of operations

If you want the result of your example to be 1, you'll need to override the equal left-to-right precedence of multiplication and division by including an extra set of parentheses (and preferably also include the implied multiplication): 6/(2*(1+2))

...after graduating I use a calculator, and if it's that deep an accountant.

What's funny is that if people actually fallow the PEMDAS most like they will get 1, but the answer is 9.

The reason is because people want to believe that Multiplication has priority over Division - However, both * and / hold the same value.

I argue with a "Howard U" chick about this ... SMH ...
