pat brings in the audience. not sure how that translates to actual dollars, but the clicks/viewership probably justified them making that deal. same with SAS when he is up.

Sports betting being huge shifted things as well. People aren’t going to espn for “sports” like they used to. It’s just a platform now

Aren't tv ratings for espn besides live sports all down across the board? In the year 2026, their stupid, repetitive all day long debate shows mostly get viewership from gyms, doctors / dentist offices, and bars just leaving their TV's on the channel. Yet they stupidly pay crazy high salaries for 3 network personalities that most people can't stand or hate. greenberg has the personality of a rock. Yeah he's a company man who will host whatever show you give him but someone making a quarter of his salary can also do that.
I'm still mad Around The Horn was cancelled. That was the last good show left on the network.

People get fired during their shift all the time. Not saying it's right or ok but that's the game.
Would it have been nice if ESPN let RC go before or after he finished the show? Yes.

Getting fired while filming live television? Yes, I do think they owe someone that. Talking about a 20-30min difference here. “That’s business” isn’t 100% correct and gives these people a pass. I’ve been part of business ownership. This idea of cut throat, screw everyone over for a dollar, bs isn’t “business”. That’s being an ***. Part of business is having people want to work with you for as long as you’re standing. If who you work for things they don’t owe you nothing but a paycheck you need to work somewhere else.
If someone is fired during their shift then they most of been doing something seriously wrong.

You and I have had different experiences. I worked for an employer that fired someone right after they got back from lunch. In our department there was 40-50 people that witnessed this person get fired. If you take RC firing at face value he got fired towards the end of his shift. Many people get fired that way.
I personally got let go from a job and all I got was an email link to a town hall speech by one of the executives. I was let go 2 hours into my shift. It ain't right or fair but they didn't owe me anything.
