America....Its a wrap.

It's mainly big business's fault and the people that vote for them. YES, Obama is big business, McCain is big business, W was big business...

Folks are finding out that Obama is no different than George W. Bush. Both are corporate tools.

Socialism under FDR saved this country, unfortunately that ain't going to happen again. America had its time, and now its gone.

In 400 years from now, George Bush will be looked back upon as one of the worst world leaders ever. While America was already on this path, he speed it upabout 25 years.

Honestly...or generation is asleep at the wheel too.

We're letting these over the hill racists and extremists dictate the direction of our nation and society.

Our voice is damn near silent.

Too much iTunes and Xbox live and too little....

Agreed. We should've taken to the streets over the bailouts

I'm tired of caring. If it's a wrap then it's a wrap. All I'm going to do is live my life like I've always lived it hoping for the best. It's pointless to worry about what you can't control.

if you take a look at the renovation being done in Manhattan its all by the Chinese.

Hopefully that spirit is still alive, because things will have to get worse before they get better.

Apathy (also called impassivity or perfunctoriness) is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation and passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest or concern to emotional, social, or physical life. They may also exhibit an insensibility or sluggishness.

The root of our problems.

You're right, I AM like that towards matters I can't control. In things I can I'm the complete opposite. And don't give me this "togetherwe make a difference" either because there are things that, no matter how united we are, will never change. Besides, things will get better like theyalways have no matter how bad they look. This country has stumbled before and it's always gotten back up.

America will bounce back. We always do. Every generation gives the same end of an empire speech and we're still here and still strong.

Yea, my generation sucks. It's a generation of privilege, kids who grew up with way too much and way too complacent.

So long as our dollar is the backed currency in the world, we will remain on top.

WSJ - The Chinese Yuan: The Next World Currency?

The U.S. financial system is in a fragile place. As the bailouts go on- and on, and on- the U.S. and the U.K. will increasingly depend on China, Japan and other nations to buy Treasurys. But Wednesday, a U.K. auction of $2.6 billion in 40-year treasury securities garnered only $2.3 billion of bids. And in the U.S., Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner implied that the dollar could be replaced as the premier currency for world financial reserves-something recently suggested by Chinese officials. (Geithner later backtracked).

not a very good article

your statement concerning our reign as the 'empire' of the modern coming to a close is probably true but everyone has known this for years......itisn't even dependent on our demise so much as the rapid progress of developing nations like china and india

but in regards to our "moral fiber" etc....lol. yeah, please name a time in our history when, morally, we were better off?

as far as policy & progression......it's a slow process as always. in the narrow scope of a short-term time-frame it can often be difficult to seeexactly where we are headed.
