Since 2006 Back to Black has been probably the CD in my colection that has been cosntanly on my rotation.

The album is just flawless.
The production on this is album is maybe one of the best I have EVER heard.
The vocals and lyrics are just amazing.

She also brought us Frank.
It didnt show all her potential that fank did, but it was still a solid debut

And Lioness: Hidden Treasures was compilation album of unreleased music that shows stuff made around 2003, original recording from back to black and some music that was unreleased.
Overall it was a pretty good compilaton

This lady was true talent.

As for Adele
I read somewhere that she was dubbed the next Amy Winehouse.

So I thought to give her a chance.

I bought her CD and literally gave it away.

I do not understand the hype behind her. I couldnt get in to her music.

It was not convincing.

Amy's voice was different and unique in a sense of way, back to black is great album. Adele has a great voice but its not as unique.... both great nonetheless.

I'm with you 100 percent. I was saying it in that other thread but I really don't think Adele's album was all that great. Aside from Rolling In The Deep, which is a great song. She is definitely overhyped imo.

Dead serious. I deleted her cd. I didn't find any of her other songs to be anything special.

Amy is amongst my top 3 artists, so it isn't a question for me. Her voice is just so unique and her lyrics are very strong and of course production is flawless with Salaam and Ronson. Amazing talent and a very unique personality which I find very inspiring.

On the contrary I think one has to acknowledge Adele's talent as well she has an extremely well-trained and strong voice. I also like the honesty of her music, although 21 can be considered amongst the best of 2011 in my opinion.

It's important to mention that Amy helped british artists as a whole get recognition, she was amongst the first of a few very talented young new brit females that became well known globally.

But yeah, Back to Black was flawless, Frank is amazing, very honest and out there. Well Lioness was posthumous, unfortunately you can tell, mostly covers, amazing ones btw, I like a song for you better than the OG and a couple of great new songs.
It's too bad she didn't have a chance to bless us with more of her music, I think her third album would've easily become as good as Back to Black. One can blame the lifestyle, but sometimes great art from a genius and "raffish" behavior can come hand in hand.

Rest in peace Amy.

I only liked a couple songs on Adele's album. I don't get the hype either plus she's fat.

I mean no. Love Adele. Like Amy.

19 and 21 just have songs that I'll be playing for decades.

Frank > Back to Black

19 > 21

Frank > 19

Winehouse > Adele

There would be no Adele if it weren't for Amy. Can we lock this up?!

If you didn't like "21" than Adele isn't for you. It's better than "19" and she continued her music style which doesn't make it radically different than her first album.

Back on topic, I like Amy's voice better but, I enjoy Adele's songs way more They sound more epic and she uses melodies and a harmonic(orchestra/symphony) sound to compliment the songs topic and tone as oppose to Amy's jazzy style of songs, which I like also.

Not a big fan of either, because both are incredibly overrated, but Adele is definitely a better singer. Amy was the better performer. Neither are as good as people hype them up to be though.

Amy is better to me
I like and enjoy both of them tho

didnt know Adele was fat tho. lol

I'm diggin Amy's musical style more but Adele has that power voice IMO. Overall though I agree with OP, Amy > Adele
