Sup NT? So idk what is wrong with me but if I run, jog, or even walk far distances, my ankles and lower half of my shins get like stiff and sore or like a very hard cramp. Its weird. Its been like this for years. What do you guys think this is? Do any NTers get this?? Ive always been a big dude but I play ball and hit the gym alot so idk.

Some people just have weak ankles. My friend has glass ankles, so even a slight awkward movement will break his #$%%. The other day he tripped over a small pothole and his ankle was giving him problems the whole day. And I think size does matter, pause.

Weak ankles and you're out of shape... Run everyday and endure the pain...after a while the pain will stop. Make sure you stay hydrated too

, could be a number of problems, I would make an appointment with your MD,Ortho.

Thanks guys. At the gym I either run pick up games or work out my upper body or hit a bike. Maybe I should focus on some leg exercises?

you need to strengthen your ankles by working out, and also the pain you have in your shins is because your body puts too much pressure on your legs causing your shins to hurt. and losing weight will probably solve this problem.

also make sure you dont over-train, cause that can also cause the same pain. and i have to disagree with kaycurrency on this, cause if your body is hurting somewhere. it means something is not right. enduring pain can only lead to more damage done to your body. dont ignore pain, it is a warning that something in your body is not functioning properly. pain will not go away if it is not taken care of.

Take a fish oil supplement, something with glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM - pretty much whatever you can find in the joint health section of a Whole Foods or GNC. I used to have pretty bad ankle problems stemming from multiple sprains during high school football, as well as achilles problems. I used to wake up every morning with my ankles/achilles so stiff that I had to walk on my heels for a few minutes before they would loosen up. I eventually fractured my ankle playing basketball, and spent 5 weeks on crutches. My right calf was pretty atrophied when I got off crutches, but I never had the same ankle problems again.

Fighting through ankle pain is a stupid suggestion. You need to give your body time to rest and heal.

Additionally - what kind of support are you getting from your footwear? Do you pronate? Not having sufficient support could be causing pain/injury as well.

Squat at least a couple times a week, everybody should do squats.

When I ball I rock those lace up ankle braces and they seem to help, but im not trying to rock those every time I wanna go for a run lol. And as far as what shoes I wear, its usually a pair of jordans (6,9,12) the most. Thinking of buying some zigtechs tho.
