I've worked retail for all of my work history and I'm tired of it. Black Friday and Christmas holiday

I started off working at Finish Line and I've worked at Best Buy, and Circuit City was my last job. So now I'm looking for something outside ofretail. I cant be the only one though...

What are good options outside of retail? I'm trying to get a help desk position or anything in IT since I'm in the process of becoming CISCOcertified. Anything other than retail will be good right about now though.

So what are yall doing that's NOT retail?

retail > food service IMO.

Im trying to make the transition.

i used to work at target, it had its ups and downs. working in the summer was the easiest job ever, it was dead everyday, barely any people there, on the otherhand once the holiday season came around, it was insane

That's one exception I would make. Also, selling cell phones doesnt look too bad either since those shops are kinda set up like boutiques.

I work at Ralph Lauren, i love it.

Black friday i worked 18 hours though, passed out in the stock room at like 11 am the next day.

OP, since you obviously have experience working in retail, any tips you can give me?

Whenever people meet me they always say I am charismatic and all of my employers have said I am great with customers but I never get an interview at any jobsother than food!

like i said earlier, Im trying to make the transition.. lol.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU Edit:All the free stuff was not worth it.

Who doesn't hate it besides those 35 y/o+ assistant managers who commit their lives to the company.

It gears you for the real world acutally. Gets you in front of the public.

College kids should waiter tables get that tip money. Not fold clothes at the GAP.

I worked at target. Facing the toy isles during christmas is the worst thing in the WORLD

I work at Lowe's......................................and I'm tired off it. I work at customer service. I want to quit, but it's not smart to leaveone job without having a plan B to go to.

DF!!!

I loved working Black Fridays. The shifts go by so quick because you just watch people fight for crap. Stuff no one buys all year long becomes in demand whenyou slash the price by $5.

I never do customer service though, that's the worst...returning crap customers bought.

ive worked some form of retail since i was 18 and to be honest i can't really complain. you just have t be cut out for it, faking being cheery and niceisnt hard for me atleast. some people it can be the hardest thing in the world

I started out working at FinishLine and just quit a job at Target...

Target had no damn side benefits to the job at all.

I'm bout to apply @ Urban Outfitters for the school year, job seems cake. No one ever really buys anything out of there lol.
