Anybody else hate working in retail???

I work at Sport's Authority and I'll say that retail is alright...
The only thing I don't like is my manager makes the biggest deal off of add-ons to shoes and other products, especially unnecessary extended coverageplans.

Not for me an I've never done it. I heard u can make some nice change at Brookes Brothers.

My old neighbor supported his two kids and wife working as a manager there

I was like what the hell?

it depends what company you work for. I worked for Walmart for a year and a half and if you're not a cashier, then it can be a cool job. Only thing I hatedabout it is that some folks can be grimey as hell and you would always have to watch your back.

OP, why don't you take your tall @%* and get a security job? They pay pretty well.

pretty much....i work for sams myself and the only thing i hate is the people who take their jobs to seriously and the rude racist white folk

Worked reatail since I was 16.. 2.5 yrs at the mall, and 5 at BBY.. I've had other side warehouse jobs along the way, and I also did some traveling andremodeling of stores which was good money..

You can make some pretty decent money at BBY if you're at the right store.. But w/ these restructurings a lot of people hurting..

I still can't believe Macy's didn't even give me a call for an interview even with my resume.. Also Lowe's didn't hire me after a 3rdinterview in a 2 day period (for a new store opening btw), ol redneck mofos..

I hate retail tho w/ a passion.. I can sell my asss off tho no matter what the product is so I've should have used my skills else where.. I'm hoping tofind an internship before this black friday 09'

word...only thing i'm not feeling is closing...i always say i can't close...lol

I currently work at Staples, with all this back to school shopping....the closer we get to school opening up the worst it gets from what Ive been told but w/eI'm only there until the end of the month

Hate it. Worked at Sears last year, it was the worst. I swear the stupidest customers come in there, one dude asked me if we had a certain shirt
in a medium and it was sitting there in his face

. And its soboring, that the time goes by very slow, I'd rather work in a fast food place any day

I've worked at a grocery store for 3 years now.

Being a cashier sucks, beggar was alright, shift manager is where it's at.

Closing is the best shift. I'll probably make a career out of this, not on the floor though. Upper level management of some kind.

I work at Sams too, i hate the people that take it way to serious, but then the people who don't take it seriously at all. And it's truein all retail. Why show up if youre just going to be dead weight? It's a complete waste.

I work at Party City. Dont really love the job but Im like everyone I work with so that makes things much better. The whole month of October is our BlackFriday and that is by far my favorite time of the year.

i work at the gap/gap kids been there since october, if i had another job set up i would be out...well not all the way, i would still stay on just reduce myavailable hours cause that
employee discount is kinda nice

its cool some days like busy days cause u stay movin and time goes by faster
but all in all the job sucks
i HATE workin shifts over 5 hours i would rather work 5 3hr shifts than 3 5hr shifts

Who doesn't hate it besides those 35 y/o+ assistant managers who commit their lives to the company.
You right about that.
I'm lucky I guess. I have never worked any black friday's but i have worked when the owner comes in for a book signing. That is

in a bad way if you are not prepared for the crowd.

yea i feel you on that too especially when you ask them to help you on zoning something and you check your area(that they where suppose to helpon) and it looks like nobody even did anything

and it looks terrible

I worked as recovery and I had my good days and bad. The people that ask too many questions when I am there only to put clothes on a rack were the worst

Despite the ups and downs, retail is FAR better than food service

It sucks badly. Closing then opening the next day all the time FTL.

It's like they either give too many hours, or too few hours where I work.
