B.o.B. on one.

Nah my man, the internet is just fine. There's probably more fact inspired articles/videos on topics like this as their is conspiracy ones. It's people's lack of effort or interesting in finding the truth that is ruining people. I can open plenty of books at a library in the science or history secItion and read ton's of lies in those pages. example: Bible. Anyone can write a book and publish it without being corrected.

That's true. The internet is a great resource. Shot half the stuff I use at work I learned online through Safari books or a simple google. It's the social interactions people have online and the reassurance that their perspective(however out there their views are) might be shared with someone else and that give someone a sense of belonging, that makes the internet dangerous. Rule 43, you can find anything if you look hard enough for it online.

People that feel sidelined because of their situation in life look for scapegoats and self affirmations online and find it. Others who feel the same look for the system or some conspiracy to blame because god forbid they are responsible for their own life or why their current situation is what it is.

One of the main reasons I don't understand well off people buying into conspiracy theories.

I don't think Eric Dubay is going against the grain or trying to be different or hip.

That dude, he legit believes that the Earth is Flat.

He's not in it to be different in my opinion.

I live well off, have 3 beautiful kids, make good money, none of this describes why I may think the earth is flat. You people claim that I that conspiracy theorists are bullies and call people names but all I've seen here is a bunch of empiricalistically ignorant individuals saying absolutely nothing to solve the problem or move the conversation forward. It's constant judging of one's character when you know nothing about the person behind the avatar.

I never said bullies, I said people's background and upbringing have a lot to do with why they view the world they live in the way they do.

My comment is simply an observation based on the people that I have come across that buy into theories such as a flat earth or the Illuminati. The people I have met that believe in such have tended to be of less fortunate backgrounds and struggle a bit more. At the same time, these are great people and I have no I'll will towards them or you. My conclusion is simply based on constant conversations that I have with similar problem who all tend to seem to fall into a similar category. That's what science does also, through observation and constant research and repeated experiments, people come to conclusions when the same result occurs.

Could you provide sources that confirm this is a word.

Strong strong cosign.

It's so sad to watch someone accuse others of the exact thing they are in the process of doing.

A few folks are pointing fingers at theseFlatheads saying that they, The Flatheads, are calling people names calling them dumb or sleep or ignorant, but they turn right round and do all those things when speaking about the Flatheads.

I've never seen this with so much passion, so blinded to ones own indiscretions in regard to a group of people, yet heap that blame they should be wearing like an overcoat in Autumn onto the group they "oppose".

To be fair HipsterMike, I didn't see you distinguish between some who may feel sidelined in life clinging to hope in Theories and another group.

You spoke as if they were one in the same, that the group is all made up of one demographic and thinker.

Only after the fact did I notice you try to arrange you words to read different. Nothing wrong with saying you spoke out wrong, just don't try to cover it up, realize the imperfection in your logic, make amends and move forward.

Coddling ignorance doesn't help either side of the argument.

Are you new to the US? :lol

To the coddling portion: I don't think coddling is applicable in the sense you are applying it. You can say "hey listen here idiot, the Earth is Round, don't be dense"

I'm cool with that as long as you Just don't say "all the Flatheads do when you ask them for proof is call you an idiot and say wake up" etc.

Nah man, it appears that's all both sides do, if anything.
TBH more of that comes from the Round side than the Flat side, but Round believers are quick to say "all they do is____"

Again, nah, that's all you've (not you specifically of course) been doing.

In reply to the I must be new to US: :rollin man I know it sounds off for me to claim I've never seen this, but in all honesty, I haven't seen it with this much, I don't know, disgust I guess. Like, Roundheads will fight you over some FlatEarth non-sense, it seems. Just passionate AF, WHY? :rollin

Yes, it is a new kind of USA-ness I am seeing with this. Certainly.

It's like every person in here could just as easily be talking into a mirror, and are completely oblivious to that fact. It's very odd. Overwhelmingly so.

Add to that, "roundheads and flatheads" lol, this is just an extremely odd place right now, it doesnt even seem real. Maybe its me, im going to bed.

I say coddling because of the general attitude about flat earth. Media treats it like a joke but continues giving it exposure. Then some of the supporters who make less and less sense the more you confront them with questions. FE should be confronted just like climate change denial and any other effort to discredit scientific study/push negative ideology. But it's difficult because the two sides can't find an agreeable source.

I agree with there being more aggression from round earth people but I think that's just majority rule. If there were more flat earthers it'd be the other way around.

I think the disgust comes from the context. It's one of those things that's like "man you really think this?" :lol it's up there with "the Bible is literal" and "gay people chose to be that way" to me. That's just me though.

I'm not bout to fight you for your opinion, just challenge it and maybe we can both learn something.

And yeah man look - avoid political discussions online. That is the most USAness you will ever see. Dudes be legit ready to kill each other over politics online, it's mind blowing :lol

But anyway I think the best solution is send some FE people to space. See what happens from there.

This is all I want

Then i will be content and have closure

Until then, the Earth could possibly be flat in my opinion

Or you can take a trip from the US to Europe, than from Europe to Asia and than to the US again and see if your compass is due east your whole time on the plane. Unless you think magnetic north is fake too.

What I still don't get is do you flat-earth believers explain the suns daily/yearly rotations and seasons. Every time I passed the equator to go to South America, the season is really winter down there while up north is summer, how would you explain that if you're on a flat circle as oppose to a sphere on slight tilt? One of these would be eliminated in your flat earth theory: days, years, seasons, and distinct seasons on the opposite ends of the equator.

Edit: Also the North Pole is cold year round, if the Earth is flat and facing the sun all of the time or the sun is rotating, their wouldn't be any glaciers up there.

Damn dude, you're gunna be having your kids prove your flat-earth belief is wrong once they get to the 6th/7th science class.

If I came off that way it was semi on purpose. The individuals in my own life that I have come across that are into conspiracy and beliefs that seem outside normal thinking also are from rougher backgrounds and one of them has that sense that people are against them. That's only through my own observations.

I'm using my empirical evidence!

That's also a problem, everyone is an individual. At the end of the day we can't fairly group people. I can talk reasonably with an individual. When you deal with people things aren't so easy.

Why should someone who doesn't believe in what you do solve your problem? that's lazy.

Let's all meet in a flyover state with large areas of flat land and do curvature of the earth experiments

i was high last night , sorry

IMPERIALISTICALLY

Be honest famb, did you just Google "empiricalistically", realized it is not a word, then took Google's first suggested correction.

That world doesn't make sense within the context of your statement. What does knowing about imperialism have to do with this?

The word you are probably looking for is empirically. Which given some of your comments in here, is kinda funny you would accuse others of ignoring empirical evidence.
