Goodfellas. The film grows on you as time passes. Casino is very close second though.

I don't consider New Jack city a gangster movie though. More of a hood classic, like Juice, Menace and Boys N da Hood

No grown man thinks that Scarface is the GOAT gangster movie. Tony Montana is a pretty flat character, who appeals to teenagers IMO. In the chainsaw scene, how he gonna spit in the dudes face and say "**** you!" to him when he asks him where the money is, instead of trying to buy a little more time when he knows that he has backup coming?

Also, Donnie Brasco is better than half the movies on that list.

he wanted to make a thrilling action movie, that's a wild concept, i highly doubt the world is filled with enough rappers and 12y/o to make scarface as popular as it seven it finally re-released in 03,
and goodfellas is nowhere on the level of godfather, and if godfather didn't have 30-45 minutes of dialogue i would be able to stop and watch it anytime it comes on, only movie that spots and catches you is scarface

That's like me saying Scarface wasn't even about a gangster, but a Cuban refugee.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but for me Scarface just doesn't have all the layers of the Coppola and Scorsese gangster movies. A gangster that is as all muscle and no brains as Scarface who consistently isn't capable of swallowing his pride and opens his mouth to armed gangsters while he is still working at a fast food joint would get himself killed waaay before getting to the top. Like I said, it's a character who appeals to rebellious teenagers who like to think that they don't take no **** from no one. Entertaining movie though, don't get me wrong.

Some of the gangster/gang related movies I fool with heavy that should be talked about
1. The Warriors (my favorite gang related movie of all time. Loved the old school NY gang scene where gang members wore vests to show who they was rocking with)
2. Colors (was a nice depiction of LA gang culture for the time.)
3. State Property (a little over the top, but it's still worth watchign every now and then)
4. Snow on the Bluff (down south movie so you know I had to show it some love. Everything was on point from the accents to the trap houses etc)
5. Gang Tapes (the way they tried to go retaliate against their enemies and ended up getting shot up in the process was just crazy. then the way the lil boy got killed towards the end by another lil boy while he mom was driving him to school was even crazier.)

It's surreal to me that Scorsese and Pacino have never made a movie prior to this. How is that even possible?

I just hope that the movie gets made while everyone is still alive because I believe all four are well into their 70s.
