BEST MARVEL FIGHTING GAME..............PRIME SAID "CVS2 > all them boo boo marvel fighters"

^ A lot of people hate the music but I think it was a refreshing change.

I can't count the number of times I've snap backed someone calling an assist then instadeath with launchers. Literally every character can do this. I used to use team clockw0rk and can beat the average person, but that mvc2 is too broken.

UMvc3 was a refreshing change. Tired of those same sprites they been using since those marvel super heroes games.

If you want a balanced fighting game, SFIV. They're always updating the game to make characters more competitive.

Not even just MvC2.

Cable, Sentinel, Captain Commando >>>>>

man sf4 isnt balanced

if you want balance you need to go to tekken or anime (GG most notably)

MVC2 is just great for what it is man. MSTronne is  fun to play sometimes

My personal favorite is Ultimate Marvel 3, I can sit in training mode forever and play long sets with friends.

MVC2 as many have mentioned. Spent so much time in the arcades busting dudes on that joint.

I was guilty of cheesing with Cable every now and then.

Can't even agree with that. I hate how they kicked out all SF and Xmen people. Basically if they had a TV show or a movie coming out you were in the game.

Mvc3 as a whole just sucked

They made it MARVEL vs. CAPCOM. Don't see the problem.

Best is subjective because all of them are broken messes, but relatively speaking MvC3's the best just because from a competitive standpoint there's a lot more variety. In MvC2 it's dominated by like 6/7 chars

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is my favorite fighting game. :hat

thats how mvc3 is. zero/ virgil/ doom/ morrigan/ magneto/ spencer

I love marvel vs Capcom. anybody want to play it on xbox live hit me up. I play with commando, strider and ryu

the general consensus is that:

xmen vs sf, mvc2 are the best in the series.

my personal favorites are marvel vs sf, mvc1 and 2 and vanilla mvc3.

i started playing fighting games seriously around the time marvel vs sf dropped which is why i feel like that. i didn't get good until mvc1 which i played religiously. by mvc2 i was playing literally all day and night every weekend in the arcades. i could def take your money lol.

i was a beast with torn in mvc3 but they nerfed her in umvc3 and i stopped playing. my last team was taskmaster/frank/sentinel.

vanilla mvc3 i used tron/taskmaster/sent. mvc2 was strider/doom/sent, mvc1 was strider/spiderman or ryu/strider or spiderman/strider...i played with a little of everyone tho. commando, strider, wolverine, spiderman, ryu were my best characters.

marvel vs sf...ken/spiderman, wolverine/spiderman, wolverine/omega red were my teams. i could play with everyone tho.

wasn't that into xmen vs sf so i never had a legit team although i did play it in the arcade at the tail end of its life.

who remembers when ****** used to take turns on mvc...like one person would be one character and then switch and move out of the way for the other person to take over as the other character in the arcade? lol.

Meh, mvc3 came down to xfactor. Lost the whole game? No worries, xfactor makes it so NONE OF THAT MATTERS :lol

Yeah that launcher thing worker for everyone but at least you could hit them. On mvc3 they made the assist so safe it was ridiculous. Haggars assist was so safe they had to make it so he automatically takes damage every time he's called out :lol

And mvc3 isn't really it's own game, it's just a sprite swap of TvC with marvel characters put in. Nothing really original about it.

Mvc2 is broken because it has infinates?glitches? A strong 5-6 characters that everyone falls back on? MVC3 has those same problems plus xfactor and easy to do one hit = 200 hit combos.

I agree that Marvel 3 has problems like most fighting games, but the thing is, its a victim to how fast information is put out to the world.  When mvc2 was competitive, there weren't streams every day/week, there weren't majors every month, there was no youtube.  So when you bring out that new tech come Evo, or other major tourney, it was HYPE, and it was "damn, i gotta learn that," come back to the next big event, "damn new tech, i didnt know you could do that," gotta learn that, etc...

I remember commentators saying something along the lines of umvc3 is at the same level (with tech) when mvc2 was after 5-6 years.  This was said after a few months of its release.

Def agree with BLASTER about the problems it has, but it was a fun game and im just glad they made it different that the others in the vs series.  (can't speak on TvC, came out after i lost all interest with Wii)

I had a lot of fun playing mvc2, from arcade to dreamcast, (not so much fun on ps2), to the HD remake.  I loved that game, but was it the best marvel game?  Best one was the OG VS fighting game, XvSF.  It changed the game.

MvC 3 >>>>> MvC2

Anybody who thinks otherwise is stuck on nostalgia. I was semi pro in Marvel 2 and that game peaked about 5 years into its release. It was so broken which was part of its charm but if you weren't playing with Storm or sentinel you're not going anywhere tourney wise. As far as marvel 3's engine, it's so deep. Niitsuma really made something special with that game it just hasn't been as promoted as a generational fighting game, a status that marvel 2 seemed to reach albeit through cult status and it's 56 player roster which at the time was CRAZY. Still own my original dreamcast copy that I got release day from Funcoland :o

But my memories of xmen vs street fighter AND ESPECIALLY Marvel superheroes vs. Street Fighter will forever stay with me. As a kid I was the BIGGEST capcom head. I was obsessed with street fighter and was an avid comic nerd. I remember watching fox kids on a Saturday morning and going down to my local arcade after the Saturday morning block was over and seeing a poster for xmen vs. Street fighter. This was right around the time Street Fighter alpha came out. Man I ****** lost it!

^^ and that's the thing "tourny wise". People are caught up on that not seeing how much the game is with all the characters. Sure they aren't tournament viable but that doesn't mean you can't use them playing casually. Same could be said with mvc3 and it's cast.

blastercombo blastercombo Nah.

Take out TACs, nerf Zero, nerf Vergil, nerf Morrigan, nerf x factor and mvc3 becomes godlike.

Since that won't happen....mvc2 > *

I absolutely hated mvc2 in its later years tho. Only 9 characters were playable. Everybody else got forcibly loved by the top tiers. Got monotonous and lame seeing Mag Storm Sent Psylocke or cable ALL the time.

I agree with these two posts. I missed out the Marvel 2 generation so I didn't really see much of it apart from the high stake money matches but Marvel 3 has just been hype since it released and there's nothing else like it.

Yes it has balance issues and since the Marvel license ran out, Capcom can't do anything unfortunately, however the variety that the characters and the game's engine brings is second to none IMO.

Vanilla SFIV had it's own problems too and so did AE but due to support SFIV became the game it is today.

Marvel 3 would have eventually been a much better game if it received the same support but oh well. Even still it's still the most popular fighter with SFIV in most tourneys.

But all the marvel 2 sprites are based off of either street fighter alpha, children of the atom, Marvel Super Heroes, or Darkstalkers. Most character had at least 2 clones of each other and other were absolutely pointless even in the hands of the most skilled fighter. A pro-ranked fighter playing with servbot or sonson couldn't touch an average player playing with sentinel or akuma. Marvel 3 is the ultimate game of rock, paper, scissors. Every character has something special that makes them a valuable character to any team, whether it's super armor, crazy assist (Dr. Doom :{ ) insane speed, etc. If nothing else alone Marvel 3 gave us characters that people have always dreamed would be in the series. Phoenix Wright? Jean Grey?! ROCKET RACCOON?!?!? C'mon

Magneto/Sentinel/Doom >>>>

Guile/Commando/Ironman >>>>

But C'mon, lets be serious. This game is better than any marvel VS game ever put out

It literally was a dream match...

Still the best fighter of all time imo.

No no, you're right about variety, but mvc2 is also about 13 years old. Its gonna have its limitations :lol

Mvc2 was great by accident. It wasn't well thought out, it just worked out.

And I disagree with the pro vs average statement.

:lol

So true, things just somehow fell into place for Marvel 2

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 was a pretty awesome. SVC chaos is insane too. I used to beast with demon iori, Violent Ken and the alien from Metal Slug :lol

blastercombo blastercombo yeah Marvel 2 is one of those games that came out right when fighting games were going on hiatus and because of that reached a cult status and was THE fighting game until capcom revived Street Fighter in late '07-'08. I just really want an update to Marvel 3 because the engine is still AMAZING but capcom's money troubles and pursuit of a buyout is making this seem unlikely :(
