I don't know if players want the competition to think they're taller.   A lot of people just wish they had more height.  You see people in other sports and everyday life lie and say they're taller as well.  
I did hear people say that Garnett might be 7'0 but likes to be listed at 6'11.  I don't know how true that is but that height seems more fitting since he's a finesse forward.  Generally you think of 7'0 footers being centers.

Ok I get you now. I'd love to see what his height was listed at when he played at Northeastern. There would really be no reason for him to lie there at a small program. And it's doubtful that he would have grown since college. Anyone got an old Huskies game program?
