What state are you in OP ? You should be able to set up a property damage claim through the car's auto policy to get your bike repaired or replaced, as long as the other driver was at fault. The insurance information will be available on the police report, once you have it just call the carrier and ask to set up a claim. It's not a difficult process, you don't need a lawyer, just be mindful of what you tell them. Don't say you are not injured, just in case you start feeling pain in the next couple of days.

Since nt wasn't much of a help I googled and end up in this website newyorkbikelawyer.com. this guy walked me thru everything. He said wait for the police report and then call the insurance company. I can get compensated for my bike, days I missed worked and health

In most places i the US it is illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk. Cyclists are subject to the same laws on the road as a vehicle. Some cities have local ordinances that allow cycling on sidewalks but from what I have seen this is not very common.

They don't get tickets for going through red lights, stop signs, cutting across multiple lanes of traffic to turn left from the bike lane, they don't yield, they don't pay attention, they use crosswalks, most swerve in and out of traffic because they haven't learned to shift, and dear lord I could keep going.

Way to generalise all cyclists.

I commute by bike in traffic every day andsee that stuff - about as often as an idiot in their big metal box does something like try to squeeze in front of me right before a junction.

It is true that cyclists should follow the rules like drivers - but they are also a lot more vulnerable so accommodations have to be made - in the same way that driving 45 in a 40 is illegal but may be safer because it's what everyone is doing.

The US is also one of the worst countries in the world to be anything but a motorist. Doesn't mean the drivers are better though - probably the opposite. If you don't see hazards like cyclists then you shouldn't be driving.

Dude ran straight through a red light crossing this big *** 4-way intersection to make a left turn. i had the green, and traffic cruising at 50-65 on that road from both sides, and hes taking his time. Dude didnt even attempt to stop; 4 car accident. Idiots.

Damn right they're a hazard. People get on bikes and lose all common sense. You'd think they're riding in a tank the way they ride.

crusin down the road in the heart of bmore doin my 50mph and a flock of them come outta nowhere all UP in the middle of the road, never wanted to commit mass murder more than that night.  subject to the same laws my ***, they're like those squirrels in the geico commercial gettin in the way of motorists and then givin each other dap once the guy swerves to miss them and ****.  there are bicycle lanes for a reason, use em or hit that sidewalk.  no cop is gonna give you a ticket for that when they don't give y'all tickets for crusin through reds, cutting across all lanes at a nice leisurely pace, ridin these big ol three and four seaters

only thing i have against cyclist's is when they ride in the middle of the road and not to the side. other than that why would i get mad over someone exercising?
