If you think about it, thats what they're really trying to identify with. (Music, Clothes) That is what they're exposed to.
To say they're trying to be black is a little vague.
i.e.
Africans are black, they are not trying to emulate africans
Oprah is black, they not trying to be like oprah
From what I've seen, there little or no carribean food or soul food out there.
They can only try to copy what they are exposed to which is hip hop/dancehall/reggae music and fashion
