Furthermore, the MSM's peak interest in the lives of black Americans is entirely due to the rise of the Obamas. The NYT looks at them and seeswhat affirmative action has produced, and wonders 'whether a black upper class exists.'
Such a stupid question for the NYT to ask IMO. Advantageous blacks have been attending boarding schools and Ivies for years, entrenching themselveswith elite whites (who are historically quite amiable, simply because they're liberal) and their social networks necessary for professional success. BarackObama went to Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard Law; Michelle went to Princeton and Harvard Law--it's no wonder why they live where they live today.
Just goes to show you the power of top education and proper networking. The blacks inhabiting those upper-crust zip codes in NY and summering (blackssummering!) in Martha's Vineyard are enough proof that a black upper class exists.

like i said glad i had cool parents................even with my pops busy schedule he made room to coach basketball and football growin up, use to drop ofplenty of kids who didnt have a ride or parents got caught up with other agendas plenty of times. thats a dude i can say never forgot where he came from. iwant to do the samething in some way............keep the youth active and even school them on eating right.

"Our Kind of People"
That is an extremely good book, I read it in its entirety.
It basically talks about rich old money blacks and how they live. They look down on like entertainers and whatnot because they're not "our kind ofpeople." Most of those blacks have had money for a while and it talks about their social organizations and such, how the kids spend summers atMartha's Vineyard in order to meet others that are in the same social circle.
The crazy thing is while lightskinned "good" hair blacks are desirable, they look down on interracial couples (black + white).
That's a horrible summary but I suggest anyone read it. It's just funny how "our" people are.

"uppity" black folks are fools, period. i say this because they truly believe they are better than "normal" or less fortunate black folkssolely because of their wealth or what have you.
but the main reason why they are fools is because they really believe that their white counterparts accept them as equals, when in fact, in most cases they arenot.
