Pretty much. A random young black man would quicker be compared to a rapper like Jeezy, rather than Lawrence Graham.
There's wealth in the black community, but it's swept under the rug for the most part. Main stream America depicts entertainers and athletes as thewealthy people in black society. The truly wealthy black wouldn't want to be intermingled with the new blacks because of the way the new blacks earnedtheir money. Take Jeezy for example. Though he practically made a song for Pres. Obama (where he professed "you touch em' we ridin"), do youreally think he'd be invited for an exclusive tour of the white house, or asked to go to a retreat at Martha's Vineyard?
The "Old" money blacks are the same as any other race. They feel that their wealth outweighs that of any other group of wealthy people because of thework they had to do to earn such affluence. Do you really think these people want to mingle with rappers who idolize selling coke while their Law/Medicaldegree from one of the Ivies sits comfortably on a mantle? Doubt it. Do you think they'd want to be viewed as rich only because they can throw a foot ballor dunk a basket ball, when they probably had to go through a multitude of social circles, gone to the right schools, and graduate at the top of their classes?I doubt it.
The same way an elite group of Jews/Whites/Indians exists, there's a Black group of of elites as well. The difference between the wealthy African Americansand the rich entertainers/athletes is the sense of class that none but they know of.

I don't know you or your back ground, so I can only speak for myself.
I wouldn't. Even though i want to be wealthy one day, I doubt I'll ever be invited to join any of these affluent social circles. I don't mindthough because if I do become wealthy one day, I wouldn't need a club to enjoy my dollars. As much as I'd love to go tl Harvard Law, I can't saythat their life style is for me.

Because I'd know that we weren't the same. I came from modest beginnings and no matter how much money I come into, the fact still remains that Iwasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth.

I'm assuming that thesw people have a huge emphasis on your backgroung -- ie, what schools you went to, who your parents are and what they did -- andI'm sure I don't fit the bill. As is typically the case, most rich people have this air about them that seems as though they're entitled to theworld. That's not me.
Don't get me wrong, I'd take the wealth, but I wouldn't be hurt if the Boule didn't send me an inite.
