Advance search > your name in "keyword" box > choose full text > choose "posts only" > change "sort results by" to "update/posting date".



Save the search as "quotes" and you're always good to go.

I don't think you need to at the person at all. They'll see it if they check the thread.
What we need is some form of quote notification system though.

That's almost the same thing

Sometimes I'll quote replies to address the person directly, as if I were @ them.

I rather have a NT app where the threads you post in gives you notification of when a new post is added and gives you a preview of what was said. Also it should have a release date feature where you can sync reminders and calendars to those releases. Also notification for pms and quotes. Also let me upload pics from my phone directly into NT.

NikeTalk can already notify you when a new post is added to a topic you've created or replied to.  That shows up on the front page.  You can get live updates for ANY post simply by clicking the subscribe button.  

The new mobile-optimized version of our site is due out this fall.  No installation is necessary, it works on all major platforms, and - even in version 1 - it should support picture uploading from both Android devices AND Apple devices running ios6.  

If all goes well, I'll share some preview screens and details in a few weeks.

Eh..  as much as I like the idea of penalizing people for trolling, etc. this brings with it all sorts of consequences, too.  Then you have people using reps to have silly little slap fights, where online "enemies" will retaliate with negative ratings, etc.

If a topic is bad, DON'T REPLY.  Send it to the back pages.  If something is ABUSIVE, use the report flag.  If you disagree on something substantive, verbalize it.  This is a discussion forum, after all.  

I can go along with "likes" as a way to help identify particularly helpful/salient replies within a topic or topics within a forum, but "dislikes," however well-intended, seem more likely to generate negative behavior than actually stem it.  

We need our forums to be LESS mean-spirited.

You can do that here.  Just click "subscribe."  If you don't want emails, set your subscriptions to "site only."   Then, just click the NikeTalk logo and jump back to the front page.  

You can customize your subscription settings to show whatever you want:  only posts you manually select, posts you reply to, posts you start, posts created by your favorite users, etc.  It updates automatically, in real time.  

We seriously need to create a tutorial video for this feature or something.  It has to be THE most under-utilized improvement on the new site.
