Car for college?

I'd avoid taking out a loan if you could. If you didn't, how much would you be working with?

If not, then I'd recommend spending 2000-3000 and finding a cheap Honda or Toyota just to get you from point A to point B. Ask your friends to go with you to check out any cars you come across as well.

Big J's questions are on point. The car does make things convenient, but if public transportation/exercise can get you to class/work, it might be worth it to save the money. Keep in mind the parking fees on campus too.

Better yet, go cop a bicycle and lock for 100 bucks. It'll get you to places faster than you might think, and you get the exercise and save money.
