Car heads: Which car has the best engine/exhaust note? (non exotics)

As far as regular street cars (like 30k and under?) I don't think there's anything that can top the vw/audi VR6 engine notes with the rightexhaust...that is for a regular street production car. I just can't imagine such a wonderful super car sound/growl especially when it's on those oldcrapbox vw's

Close runners up: Subaru boxer engine, Nissan VQ engine

i cosign with vw/audi. my vote also goes to nissan/infiniti, especially on their trucks/suvs. sound like straight sex.
 
A WRX with the right exhaust sounds amazing, definately the best sounding import I've ever heard...

word. but ive never heard a bad sounding wrx.
but my vote goes to the VQ engine. but im biased.

I like my stangs. Nothing sound better than a beast on the road. IMO!!

Edit: I think this car runs on Zeus's lightning bolts. Its *%@+@ out thunder.

no wrx 4-cyl is touching a big v-8 in terms of exhaust note

pontiac gto exhaust >>>> any wrx's

and i'd whip the wrx over it in a heartbeat. just sayin.
 
The topic says engine and you dudes talking about exhaust? Aftermarket exhaust (even on a FI'd car) doesn't really make the engine louder. Keep a stockexhaust and throw on an aftermarket intake will make it louder.

Best engine for a sub 30k car.....hands down 4G63.
