Not the strongest defensive player but I wouldn't say a liability.....ever since the Billups trade he's been solid on defense....

only reason I put Melo above Dwight is because past 10 feet from the basket Dwight is inaffective.....and Melo can pull out (pause) and hit that18 footer consistently...or pop out occasionally for the tre plus he can rebound.....

Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Howard, Dirk......I say no. (in fact, I take Paul, Deron, Duncan, Garnett and Durant over him....and Im a huge Melo fan.)

Melo is easily my favorite player in the L but he is not top 5.

He's in that 5-15 category.

And he IS the 2nd best SF in the L.

He's a center. His primary objective is to dominate AROUND the basket. A jump shooting big man is a luxury...not a necessity. I'm sure ifyou poll 30 GMs and ask him who would they build their franchise around...Donut Percent would say Melo.

Kobe, Bron, Wade, CP3, Howard...and maybe Dirk...top 10 not top 5 YET

He's right there though, and after this year he may put himself up there.

understood he's a center my dude.....but the fact remains Melo's a better overall player....I take it your as surprised as DC with people in hereactually saying he is Top 5 if not he's right there...or on the verge of being there....who's ur 5 though I'm curious...

Dirk is a whole nother argument man....I believe Dirk has what it takes to be THE MAN but he never shows up when it counts....Dwight is arespectable choice

I got Melo slightly edging him out....

Wait....Dirk has had more playoff success than Melo. Not taking anything away from the dude, but if you're gonna use this category to slight Dirk, thenyou should do the same for Melo. Aside from this season, haven't the Nuggets/Melo pretty much been swept or had one win in their playoff series?

That being said, there aren't too many folks in the NBA who can check this cat. Offensively, he's EASILY top-5....I think this year could help hiscase as far as him REALLY being considered a top-5 all around talent in the league

My top 5:

LeBron James
Kobe Bryant
Dwyane Wade
Tim Duncan
Dwight Howard

Melo is in the top 15, but not top 5.

Yes, probably #5...

In the 1st 2 games of the Western Conference Finals, Melo looked liked THE best player in the league....I wish he played that way all the time.

I would have to agree somewhat....but I will say this....The Nuggets weren't having to much playoff success prior to last season but I wouldn't saythis was all Melo's fault.. feel me....like Melo would go out and drop 35 and they would still lose....The Mavs were losing because Dirk just legitimatelywasn't showing up...agreed??

I can agree with that. You definitely could make a case for Melo being top 5, I just think he needs to work on his Defense a lil more. Melo's not aliability, but because Dwight is such a beast defensively and still gets around 20 a game i gotta put him up there for now. I do see Melo becoming a noquestion top 5 player in the L this season though. Offensively he's already there, and is one of the most clutch players in the L
