College Graduation Class Rings Worth the Money?

Thanks for your input, everyone. I do not attend "Central University," I just picked a stock photo from google images. I did buy a high school ring (the cheapest one at $70 or so) and wore it for maybe a few weeks and at special occasions during high school but it is currently collecting dust atop my dresser.

I do not attend a well-known university and, based on my previous experience with class rings and me simply not buying into the hype, I think I've decided to go the watch route and maybe get the caseback engraved to commemorate the occasion (is that even possible?). I guess I'll refer to the Post Your Watch thread for suggestions on what I should get

look at it as your "super bowl" ring....

I see what you did there. I couldn't get one in high school, said I would for college. But I think it end up lost or in a drawer instead of me actually wearing it.

Most people aren't repping grad schools or doctorate schools like that. Undergrad is where all of the allegiance usually lies.

At that point, you should be focused on getting the degree.

I don't know...something about school rings is just really awkward to me. T-shirts, mugs, pictures, even license plates are cool. But a ring? With a fake birthstone made out of scrap metal? ...C'monnnnn

Im confused by the license plate comment. Not that I have one, but I dont see whats funny. Whats wrong with someone being proud of their school? I dont see how a license plate holder, a ring, etc... is any different than a t-shirt or something. Do you laugh at the guy who wears a Florida Gators shirt because he went to Florida and likes the football team?

if i had money i might have bought one ... i didn't get one and i won't be ordering one now

My junior high and high school rings were enough ...

Instead of my parents buying me a high school graduation ring, My dad took 2 rings (that my Grandfather gave to him when he came over to America) and gave them to me for graduating. I wear them proudly to this day and personally see them as better than any ring I could have bought.

I still think I might buy a college ring though. It depends if I have enough money to afford it when graduation comes around.

to each his own- i'm not a fan....its used to commemorate your accomplishment...so if you want a watch instead then get that

everytime you look at the watch you'll have a sense of pride- and when people ask you about it you can tell them

Junior high ring? Srsly fam?

On a website where people consistently pay 200+ for cheaply made shoes I find it hilarious that people are hating on buying a class ring.

I don't have one because I wouldn't wear it but do you.

You'll look like one of them whack old guys wearing their state title ring from 30 years back, don't do it.

I'm willing to bet most of the NT'ers saying not to probably didn't go to college, though

$600 i dropped only to have it sit in a drawer. My mother encouraged me to get it. Idk maybe later on in life it'll be useful.

If you are in a serious amount of debt... Hell no..

If you are graduating relatively debt free... Go based on preference. If you want one, get one
