I'm tired of trying to track down my hookup whenever my internet goes down. I'm looking purchase internet now and my only choices that I'm aware of is Comcast and AT&T. I only need to stream movies/music/play games.

- How much are you paying for internet?

- Are you getting exactly what you paid for? Is the internet really capped at the mbps purchased?

- Is there a way to flat out buy the service at a lower price rather than getting it at a promo and it increasing after 6 months?

- Anyone else in S. Fla using a company other than Comcast & ATT?

I had a Comcast employee tell me that there was no point in getting an expensive package when the cheapest package will probably give you more mbps than what's advertised.

Thanks.

Avoid AT&T at all costs. It's either hit or miss with them. For us, it was miss. Service would cut off at least 30 times a day. Absolutely horrible.

Switched over to Comcast, and I have absolutely no complaints. I pay for 15MBs, but we get around 25MBs.

I had them once but I hated them.

My hookup gave me a modem that got 19mb down download and 16mb upload. There's no way for me to figure out exactly what package I would've been getting since it wasn't legit.

Yea, they won't have anything like that available. I bundled up with phone and cable and pay $185 a month.

You should be able to get a decent Internet speed for around $40 a month.

I agree with them. Unless you're someone who's downloading 1080p movies/tv shows daily or every other day its not that serious.

I say get the 6down/1 up.

Try to find a limited time deal.

I have AT&T and im paying $29.99 a month for 12 months. Planning on canceling it when the promotion is over though.

They may just extend it if you threaten to cancel.

The Starter bundle is about $50+ tax.

I'm thinking I can do the Performance for $29.99 for 6 months. Those fine print details is where they get folks.

"Offer ends 9/30/13, and is limited to new residential customers. Not all services and features available in all areas. Limited to Performance Internet service to a single outlet. After first 6 months, monthly service charge goes to $49.99 for months 7-12. After 12 months, or if any service is cancelled or downgraded, regular charges apply. Comcast’s current monthly service charge for Performance ranges from $42.95 to $64.95, and may vary depending on your area and other Comcast services subscribed to, if any. Equipment, installation and taxes extra. May not be combined with other offers. Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed."

Does this mean if after a year if I don't make any changes it will remain $49.99? 8o

If I understand it correctly it can potentially change again in price after a year.

Comcast here, I also had a hacked modem for a while there so I feel your pain. I get good speeds but their price gouging is terrible and I know a few people who had AT&T and they hated it, so they went back to Comcast despite the price increase.

Comcast is a overall ****** company but there's no competition here so you're pretty much stuck. Do yourself a favor and purchase a modem DOCSIS3.0 and save yourself some cash. I've had some outages but nothing too serious, however it's frustrating when it happens because the customer service is a joke.

Man, I'm almost done with school hopefully I can afford it if the price slightly increases. lol

Good looking out. I was wondering what was a good modem that would be compatible. I know it saves you $ since you wont have to rent from them. Which bundle do you have?

I'm in Spacecoast Fl. Most people around here has Brighthouse cable/Internet. Alot of apartments around here offer free cable so all you have to do is pay for Internet.

I have the 25Mbps I bought a Motorola surfboard modem from Best Buy for like $75 just make sure it's DOCSIS3.0 compatible and you should be good to go.

Comcast over this way, I pay $75/mo. for internet alone :{ the area I live in isn't part of the city so we don't get the same deals since this area is franchised.
