Computer Help: "Syncing" Files Between Computers?

Hey all,

was wondering if anyone knew of any ways to sync files between computers. So basically, I have school stuff on my laptop, but when I get home I'd rather use my desktop. Is there any way I can kind of sync up the files from my laptop to my desktop, so that I can continue working on them without having to copy and paste each file, and then recopy and paste them back to the laptop? I'm not really a big fan of cloud based systems (I got mad paranoia about this stuff, but I'll save that for another time...)

Thanks for any helps!

dang, that's essentially what I was looking for, but I need something compatible between Mac and Windows, which I'm afraid may cause my search to be fruitless... Anyone else?

Give this a try.

1. Share folder on the mac so its available on the network
2. Go to windows machine, my computer and Map a network drive. You want to make this the mac
3. Install Synctoy on the windows machine. Use the mapped drive as the source, You can choose any folder as the destination
4. In the smart sync set up, make sure yo choose sync, not copy so that way the newest file is always the one savaed.
5. ????
6. Profit

What's wrong with cloud based systems? I've had nothing but great experiences with Dropbox. It will store a local file on your computer and also sync with all other computers with Dropbox installed on it.
