Cool Kicks !

“Nike not having a choke hold” and “people just don’t care anymore” . One of these is an #NTExtreme. Funny thing is Adidas #1 selling shoe of 2025 is a women's casual shoe. Nike practically doesn't even make women's shoes. They just modify men's shoes.

Was my man selling stolen "limited" unreleased Nike shoes out of the store like "***** Nike gonna do!?" :rollin

Yup. Just like the owner jeffery from that Rif raf LA store. Dude went to jail for selling sneakers that were knowingly stolen.
seriously? in the early days of NT, that dude didn’t send his end of a trade deal and i harassed him until he sent me his psp and some games. it was still short but my baby sister absolutely loved that thing when i gave it to her. kinda makes me chuckle thinking of that dude behind bars.

DMV kids are all wearing designer reps basically, with retro Jordan’s and Nike’s mixed in.

dude, youre watching videos that target a specific audience of people who are old heads still wearing nikes and jordans.

gen z and younger aint wearing jordans bred 11  theres a reason why UNC jordan 1 are sitting at footlocker.

most young(er) people arent wearing jordans and nikes like that. they're wearing adidas and onitsuka tigers or any other shoes just like those.

if anything, even those are starting to be phased out.

also to add,

trends change. in 2000s and 2010s, rappers and athletes were who teenagers and young adults at that time were looking at as inspo.

now, no one is looking at a rapper or athlete for styling. the biggest fashion rapper is now looked at as a crazy mental racist (Kanye). that whole "SWAG" era is dead.

with social media, people are looking towards influencers, kpop idols, Japanese streetwear, and high-end niche designers for inspiration now.

ex. chrome hearts been popping in Asia since the mid 2000s. only a few years ago did it now carry over to mainstream US.
The idea that "old heads" only wear Nike and Jordan's is wild. Nike outlets never have a problem moving product and are definitely not in danger of shutting down any time soon.

There are teenagers that resale shoes at the sneaker conventions. This means they are aware of the shoe culture and they are selling shoes to every age demographic

Kids know the difference between Jordan's and Crocs. Jordans and Asics. Jordans and Sambas

Alot of people like to cherry pick that the UNC 1s are sitting. Do you realize how many Jordan 1s were sold from 2020-2024. Jordan brand oversaturated the market to keep up with the demand

The so called "old heads" have kids and some even have grandkids now. What do you think they was buying there kids since they were toddlers?

If you have kids and they been on Nike/Jordan's wave you think they gonna switch to some sambas or asics out the blue?

A lot of it comes down to affordability! How many parents got $700 for the brick by bricks or the Lil Yatchy Lucky Greens

Did you forget about the Nike Dunk mania ? Everybody had Pandas !

Pro and college sports including coaches and staff rock dunks or jordan 1s

Has New Balance and other brands gained market share? Of course they were able to pivot and give shoe deals to people Nike wasn't willing to give to and they had the foresight to give deals to a Joe Fresh goods or an Action Bronson

But at the end of the day we on Niketalk! Not New Balance or Adidas Talk!

That's not proof. The economy is bad, and tariffs have affected the stock market.

What exactly is up right now? People dining out is down, is that Nike's fault? No, people are cutting back.

I've been on this board for 20 years, and everything is cyclical. These discussions are repetitive and nothing new. When Yeezy was popping it was Nike and Jordan were dead and Yeezy jumped over the Jumpman. Boost is life. Everyone loves comfort.

Other sneaker brands have always existed and been worn. It's been periods when Jordans sat on shelves. It's nothing new.

A lot of people bring these resell and lame regurgitated discussions to NT.
nah it's different. i work with kids daily.

i see crocs more than nikes and i see lots of other brands i don't even recognize. kids nowadays are more open to wearing different stuff.
it's actually refreshing for me to see a kid in some fresh j's

People are generally limiting their spending AND younger people are more open to other brands than ever before.

I watch alot of sneaker resale content on YouTube for the last 3 or 4 years and I'm not seeing the shift to sambas and asics

Nike and Jordan got too many classic silhouettes to ever have any strong competition. The Yeezys were the shoe/brand I've ever seen come up in the conversation as competition.
Sambas are most def on a wave, went to New York I could count on one hand the amount snow bunnies that weren’t wearing sambas. Went to a Penn State Tailgate snow bunnies were heavy on Sambas. Went to Nordstroms with the wife (white btw) and they had a table full of sumbas in a multitude of colors and the girl was pushing sambas heavy. Besides Sambas lately, I do see a lot dunks and crocs! Went shoot hoops with the wifey and kids were hooping in crocs in “sport mode”!

I’m numbers guy. Just a simple search:

Evidence of challenges for Nike
  • Declining market share: Nike's global market share dropped from 17.1% in 2022 to 16.4% in 2024, though it still has a significant lead over competitors. In the U.S. footwear market, its share fell from 35.40% in 2021 to 34.97% in 2023.
  • Stalled sales growth: After robust growth in 2023, sales growth flattened or declined through 2024. The company reported a significant drop in revenue and profit in its 2025 fiscal year.
  • Increased competition: Brands like Hoka and On have gained significant market share, particularly among upper-income teens, by focusing on innovative performance products. Other competitors, such as New Balance, Adidas, and Asics, are also challenging Nike.
  • Teen interest dip: Research shows a slight decline in brand interest among teenage consumers, though Nike is still their preferred clothing and shoe brand.
  • Inventory issues: High inventory levels in late 2023 forced Nike to use markdowns, which negatively impacted its profit margins.
Why Nike is still considered popular
  • Strong market position: Despite losing some ground, Nike maintains a massive competitive advantage in size and scope, far surpassing its closest rival, Adidas.
  • High brand awareness: Nike remains a highly valuable and recognizable brand, backed by a leading advertising budget.
  • Adaptation and recovery: The company is implementing strategies to reignite growth, including cost-cutting measures and new product releases for the 2024 Olympics. Some analysts are optimistic about the company's long-term prospects.

Bottom line is that Nike is still the leader. Even with a numbers being down, they still are on top by a lot. That said, a lot of it is due to the choke hole they have on the market share. NBA, NFL, NCAA, etc, are all Nike dominated because the check is cut. Floor space on every store is also mostly Nike for the same reason.

I remember the owner doing a video once where he bragged about not using a consistent model. Saying it’s a bad way to do business.

I guess you don’t have to take shoes on consignment when you’re accepting stolen shipments.

if anyone follows richie le, someone just bought out his whole sneaker store and hes not re-opening it again due to how bad the sneaker market is.

instead hes re-opening it as a thrift store + cafe.
