Yeah he do, he from an era that was based off hood music with thought and stories.. Drake is like a commerical rapper w/ auto tune hooks, which isn't the Real Hip hop from 78-200-

back than u actually had people that could sing on them.. etc

What? What did what Mega say have to do with people being able to sing on hooks? The "real hip hop" didn't have commercial rappers? Interesting

Thats the type of music he makes its obivious.. he basically saying he's straight up commerical and in it for pop money.. obiviously

he didn't say that word for word but i bet thats what he meant. wait for further interviews etc..

Drake isn't offering anything different, he's offering commerical music which sells crazy..

first off, @ mega:

salty. atlantic ocean.

@ EastCoast Papi:

meh. drake has yet to sell crazy (he's still >100k, no?).

and he is rapping and singing.

Umm...that's not he's saying at all. I don't know what you're reading or how you're deciphering what he said. Mega simply saidthat "spoiled rich kids can't make rap music because they didn't struggle growing up". He said nothing about commercialism and the type ofmusic Drake makes.

i get what mega is saying. but drake doesnt get on tracks and talk about the hood. so hes wrong.

I think the basis of Mega's argument is that Drake's basically taking the spot of some real struggling rapper from the hood. Which is understandablebut it doesn't work that way. It definitely is that ol skool mentality but Hip Hop aint just in the hoods no more.

Given his view Mega must have a gripe with a couple other rapper's in the game back from when he was coming up.

Selling 100K of a shortened mixtape that was free 7 months ago is selling crazy...

You put together what I was thinking but didn't really know how to say. Mega even admitted in the beginning of the piece that he actuallylikes Drake, but that Drake is representing a rapidly growing school of newer acts that are taking the limelight from dudes who could use what little bit ofrap money is still out there to support their families, if not themselves.

I mean look at Charles Hamilton, for example: Only God knows how well he would have faired with the mainstream and teen audience if he had a stable backing. Meanwhile, the only new artist doing as well as Drake has so far is Kid Cudi in a sense, and that's because he had an equally huge co-sign and isn'tsign as a rapper, so much as an artist.

Drake is Jewish... Of course he's gonna get EVERY benefit of a industry thats ran by Jews... Be that exposure, press, formulated buzz and what not...

I don't care for his music... He'll come and go...

But Mega may not be aware of the change that hip hop has taken, now the people these companys have marketed hip hop to for the last 15 or so years are nowgrowing up wanting to be rappers, Asher Roth & Drake are great examples of that... I mean you have Asher Roth who sems to share the same tought process ofthe sterotypical white dude that doesn't really understand black culture deeper than the surface... With Drake, his music is just entirely too metrosexualfor my liking... But I'm sure he's HUGE in the... Ummm... Don't ask don't tell community...

I kinda agree with Mega, but their not really competing for the same type of people @ the marketplace... But then again... They are... The crowds @ about 85%of hip hop shows look EXACTLY the same...

The thing that's killing me lately is how suddenly everyone views drake as a pop rapper. When infact He is so much more versatile than that.Example"Say you Will" freestyle, congratulations, uptown, all of comeback season etc he has plenty of tracks where he just spitting and shows thathe's actually a good RAPPER. Drake is easily one of the most relatable rappers, he doesn't talk that drugs and gun !@# but he also aint out here talkinlike asher Roth.

Thats why his buzz is where it's at he a real dude. I dont get the sense that he's going into the studio like "I need a radio hit" i think itjust comes natural to him, so although some tracks may be commercial he doesnt give up his integrity on them and still spits hot verses

I haven't been keeping up with Mega, when has he said something like this previously?

I see where Mega is coming from...but hip hop/rap is bigger than the hood now.

If anything Mega should be glad Drake expresses himself as he does and not a hood dude.
With Drake, his music is just entirely too metrosexual for my liking.
...what the hell is metrosexual music?

I kinda see where he's coming from on that one. It's like drake isn't rappin from a perspective more-so than he's just rappin.

I mean how could you take a rapper seriously, when he talks about wanting to be successful, but you've been a success before rap?
grin.gif
I don't know, it's like how am I suppose to relate when you can'teven relate to that?
