..look how wide spread da culture has gone since...i was alive and i sorta remember how cooked da subway stations used to look like when i was 3, but BARELY.....man, to grow up in da 80's must've been a trip

never mind the graf, that sidewalk@ 1:36.  that's just asking for someone to get knocked in front of a train.

I thought it was gonna be a clip from Style Wars.
me too.

anyone know graf video from about 10 years ago.  it's writers from paris just bombing the hell out of train stations with no regard.

Great documentary on graffiti artists from the NYC train graffiti era.

: cameos from seen, Pjay, Json. Flava flave was on that tape and so was fat joe. I don't see how he didn't get arrested for making that film. Dude threw up on walls and bombed trains.

Good find. I could watch old NYC videos for hours. I loved the rawness of NYC then, although it was very dirty and seedy. Crazy I know.

Said the exact same thing when I watched the Basquiat documentary this past weekend...
NYC gone soft.

My dad (80's baby) was big on graffiti when he was young and has mad pics of him and his boys tagging up trains and what not in NYC.

Always thought it was dope

i was 10 years old in 86 and remember riding the trains like this.

ny was a dump , times square was nothing like it is now. porn theaters, prostitutes, junkies .

buses were the same , giuliani really cleaned up the city , he made times square what it is today .....

CC = C train (its the equivalent of the C train today). if it were one C it would have been express, iirc. did you catch the K train in the vid? old school ny >>>

we still have stations like that.

I remember when the trains used to look like that. I wasn't born yet in 1986, but I remember being 5 during the 90's and riding inside a graff'd up train with my dad. The 7 train was absolutely filthy. NYC has really changed a lot since then.

??

all that stuff you see in the vids stopped existing after 1989.
the blue strip was off the sides around 1990 or so, from memory. you can occasionally catch a train where someone tagged the inside of a car but it has been impossible to catch something like what you saw in the vid since the late 80's.

Crazy how things have gone full circle now though...
Graffiti has gone from hated to non-existent to embraced.

There are parts of my city (Charlotte) that are recognized for their graffiti work & promote it.
