DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

With regards to Suicide Squad for a second,,, I'm sure I'm in the minority but what is the big effing deal with ppl wanting Joker to have a prominent role in the movie?

The movie was bloated enough as it is, and making him the Big Bad (before letting Batman have solo film with him, no less) would undermine his character a lot. If anything, I think they used him an appropriate amount.

the animated film being so good and I think people just wanted that

plus it did feel like Joker was a waste for his intro to the new universe and I think we can all agree that him being the main bad guy similar to how he was used in the animated film would have been much better than seizuredancetress

Don't get me wrong, the Joker is an amazing villain. He is arguably the greatest CMB villain (alongside Magneto) but that's exactly my point.

If they have the SS defeat him, I feel like he wouldn't be as threatening if he ever reappeared. At least in the animated film, Batman was there for the assist.

But I digress. Honestly, Joker's screen time was the least of that movie's problems so it's a moot point.

If you're saving him for Batman (great point btw. Beating him before the batman movie makes him look weak), why eem have him in the movie? What purpose did he serve? He was prominent in the marketing (and they knew what they were doing by featuring him in it that much) and he doesn't do **** in the movie.
Was it Ayer's decision to cut his parts or was that the studio yet again?

Well, like I said, I'm in the minority that thought his screen time wasn't much of an issue. He was just kinda....there.

Ideally, his first and only appearance in the film should be the end scene where he breaks Harley out Arkham.

Joker doesn't need to be beaten by SS though, he could be a villain and the endgame still have Waller rescued maybe from Jokers capture.

And even if he is beaten, it's still took a whole team to do so and that still makes him look strong for what he is, plus you can just make it so he fakes his death and dude actually escaped.

Personally I still think they should have went against the Secret Six led by Bane or something, make it a group v group. You can also have that dynamic between Deadshot and Bane because Deadshot is a member of the both groups.

Going with Enchantress confused me because I legit don't know how a group of non powered villains are going to take down her. Task Force X is supposed to take down threats the gov't can't because of politics. Its a Black Ops group.

Writers saying they are suppose to handle threats because Superman is gone is stupid. What were they gonna do against Steppenwolf?

and the way they beat her was dumb too, I mean did they really need Killer Croc throwing the damn explosives? like really?

the movie definitely should have been more like a spy movie or even go full action stupid like the Expendables, I mean that was pretty much what they are

Still think sending them off to stop a coup in a foreign country that the gov't had a hand in causing would have been great.
Put Deathstroke in there. Have him have a beef with Deadshot over the title of best assassin. Ending fight is with the squad vs deathstroke and before they lose (cause come on they can't touch Slade) he gets a call and walks away.

How you mess up Suicide Squad is beyond me. That **** literally writes itself

And in no way shape or form so I believe David Ayer write that ****...

I'm sure there was WB hands all over that movie. I hope after A4 we get a Thunderbolts movie like after the Onslaught event

I am curious though because WB tends to let the directors do their thing so I am wondering if it's his idea to use Enchantress?

i wouldnt say a spy film.. but you play on the dirty side of politics.. government screwed up and the cant send heroes to save their a**

or could just go this route, a mission where they want/need to send expendable folks

yah anything else works other than what they did :lol

could have made it a romcom like Hitch and probably would have been better

Not a big name and relative unknown but the GL screenwriter's suggestion to star in GL is a good choice.

I like the guy that plays Shadow Moon in American Gods.

From a surface level view, and not using my comic nerd mind, DC/WB execs probably said since its a villain movie which nobody else has done lets get are A-list villain in there even though we got A-list movie star Will Smith to play a b-level villain. They just wanted to load the movie with potential.

If you came to me and said you need to watch this movie with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jared Leto I'm watching. Won't have to twist my arm.

Had Eisenberg's Lex been received well I'm more than sure they would then reveal the entire SS is in the same prison as Lex.
