Because Pau Gasol to the Lakers, Marcus Camby for nothing and accepting Allen Iverson to your team for Chauncey Billups weren't ridiculous

As long as trades work under the salary cap and involve this year's pick, I don't see the problem with using players. jpz can even oversee all thetrades if he likes.
