Delonte West is available to take all of Steve Blake's minutes. I think he'd be a nice playoff roster addition. He just got married recently so maybe he won't bring the tools to work in the moped seat.

Anyone signed now couldn't play in the playoffs..

I honestly don't think Blake should be gone next year... But I also don't think he should be the true backup.... With a combo guard it could be alternate minutes..

A newly signed player is playoff eligible if they weren't on another NBA team on March 1.

Remember Trey Johnson was signed late in the 2011 season and played playoff minutes.

Kobe should retire. I hate the guy. But why not go out on top. He had a great season, put up some ridiculous numbers for his age. His team record sucks. But he was having great games. Go out on top bro. He might come back looking like how mj was on the wizards.

Just pure hate. smh. bless your heart.

Shut up..

I'm currently 8 weeks out from an Achilles tear (happened after a first step balling too) and still am a few weeks away from even walking.

My calf muscle is non-existent there.

I'd honestly be shocked if Kobe is back next year. Maybe he might get on the court, but if he's actually BACK....idk about that. I know athletes like Kobe generally heal faster, and that Kobe is elite mentally, but I've had 2 surgeries before this on tears in my legs and this is by far the worst one.

Man I really feel bad, I know I'll never understand working and dedicating yourself to make the playoffs and then just missing it right in the end, but I understand the disappointment that comes with this. I put in a crazy amount of work to get back from 2 previous surgeries, it took me 3 years and I finally felt happy with where I was at athletically. Then a few days after I'm playing again and POP, all that work you put in and all the sacrifices you made for nothing :smh:

It's funny because when I first tore it I searched for any case of a famous athlete tearing their Achilles and returning from it to perform at a high level. And I wasn't able to find anything.

Now the most famous ball player of my generation that I've seen win the most championships (don't remember MJs first 4) tore his. And the one that's synonymous with being a warrior. I'm hoping that the he comes back because although I never really considered myself a fan...I always respected him and his approach to the game. And the fact that he's not retiring and wants to put in the work to come back and play at the level he was at pre-injury...I'm honestly looking for him to come back and inspire me to do it.

Dr says Kobe may lose 1-2 in off his vert. When he returns:"80% is realistic, could be 90% bc of how hard he works. It won’t be 100% though”

I will gladly take an 80% kobe.

Maybe his vert will not take that much of a hit if he goes back to his 1999 weight. Dude does not rely on his vert as much as he used to anyways and we all know his vert
was going to decline the next few years anyways. Plus his right leg is still intact.

As unfortunate as this injury have been. It's really come down to Kobe fault for pushing his own body to do too much. I think his legs were tired from all the minutes he played over the past 5 games. All the cramping built up during the game and eventually led to the injury. The ligaments just gave up and popped.

I think he felt the same way in the locker room last night. That's why his eyes were red. He was angry not only because the injury but also at himself for not respect father time and his body limit.

Mike Dantoni and Gari Vitti also should take some of the blame too. Gari should have warn Kobe about the risk of pushing the body limit too hard and Dantoni should have rest Kobe when he was taking all that beating prior to the injury. Give guys like Morris or Ebanks a chance to guard Curry. Kobe was just too tire of chasing Curry around plus having to play point guard on offense.

Kobe is going to lose 1-2 inch of his vert? Damn that's suck. That 2 inches is going to effect his fadeaway jumpshot and his moves at the rim.

Kobe Bryant Undergoes Successful Surgery
April 13, 2013 4:16 pm PDT

EL SEGUNDO — Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who injured his left Achilles tendon late in the fourth quarter of last night’s 118-116 victory over Golden State, had an MRI exam this morning which confirmed a torn Achilles tendon.

After confirmation of the injury, Bryant elected to have surgery to repair the torn left Achilles tendon. The successful surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache and Dr. Stephen Lombardo of the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Group. Recovery time is expected to be a minimum of six to nine months.

The NBA’s fourth all-time leading scorer, Bryant currently ranks third in the NBA in scoring this season, averaging 27.3 points, to go along with 5.6 rebounds, a team-high 6.0 assists, 1.36 steals and 38.6 minutes in 78 games this season. LINK

Road to recovery begins.

Honestly could be a blessing in disguise.
This dudes body is going to rest a lot.
Once he trains. You know damn well he is using all the "he won't be the same" as fuel to motivate him to prove everyone wrong.
I have faith Kibe will kill off next season

Also Nash PAU and DWIGHT will step up. This team is going to play inspired ball. Also Kobe is going to coach :pimp:

Well that's awesome, honestly, Kobe has been hovering around 80-90% since forever lol. When was the last time he was a full 100% healthy, '99? lol. I'll miss the retro dunks, but knowing kobe...they'll be back occasionally.

Kind of changes who we need this offseason...

Pretty much think the roster should stay put for the most part....

But have to look for
1. Combo Guard who plays defense
2. A 3 point specialist at SF.
We need to get rid of Metta, Steve Blake, and maybe Sacre. We have a pretty straight bench, and it'll be great if we could get another player like Jamison because I don't think he's coming back

I guess if it was going to happen at any time, now is perfect. Regardless of the playoff implications, him coming back stronger is the bigger picture. He'll get the full summer and fall to rest and heal. I know he wants to make the season opener, but I was just thinking, he should just skip the opener and come back on Christmas. It's definitely a bigger game, and that's a little over 8 months of healing and recovery time as opposed to the 6.5 for the opener. Lakers will def be on ABC that day, and honestly, it'll feel like when Stone Cold came back. Or the White Ranger.
