Very easily. At this point Angela knows he's Dexter Morgan CSI analyst. She also knows he saved Molly by following her and Kirk to his motel. So it wouldn't be crazy for him to say that he either followed Kirk again, or did some additional searching because of that encounter with Molly and found his trophy room. Moreover, he can add in that Kirk found out he stumbled onto his secret lair and fled. Which Kirk actually tried to do, so that evidence is available. Lastly, he could flip the death of Matt back onto Kirk and say he did it for whatever reason which explains why he was lying all this time to cover it up. That would make sense to anyone on the outside, because a normal father with nothing to hide or who didn't have a hand in his son's death would want justice. Instead, Kirk did everything in his power to pretend that Matt was still alive. You can leave that to the cops fill in the blanks on why Kirk would do that. Either way, it all points to Kirk not Dexter.

As for the bay harbor butcher stuff, it is coincidental that have two guys in Iron Lake with those needle marks. But did they really have enough to convict Dex tho?

Getting Bautista involved would have complicated it. Between Bautista and Angela, there was probably no way out of that. Faking his own death probably isn’t going to help either.

Season was good up till the last 2 episodes. kinda pissed i watched it lol. shoulda left it at season 8
 
We had rewatched the whole series before New Blood dropped. The later seasons were actually a bit better than I had remembered. Had initially thought the show was kinda trash after S4. There was still some good stuff going on though.
 
There was. Lumen and Hannah McKay. then his rivalry against Sirko. weakest of the bunch was the DDK !

As for expanding the universe of the Michael C. Hall-starring original series, the network has ordered a prequel series from executive producer Clyde Phillipsfocusing on the early years of Dexter Morgan, set in his hometown of Miami "and will touch on stories of real-life serial killers of the time period." In addition, the network is also considering spinoffs focusing on the backstories of specific characters (with John Lithgow's Trinity Killer listed in the article as an example). Though a sequel or a second season of Dexter: New Blood wasn't included in the announcement, Showtime head Chris McCarthyadded that the network is still committed to continuing that narrative in the future.
