Wel... what are you eating?

If you're taking medication and still eating things you shouldn't it's not really going to work.

I take 24 units before bed and it helps keep my morning blood sugar low. Im assuming youre type 1, I hope youre still taking humalog or another fast acting insulin as well.

My cousin is a diabetic.

Sometimes she'd get tired out of nowhere, taking naps on the stairs as she walks up. I gotta watch out for my sugar intake too...

Ive never heard that equation.  My doc just told me to start with 20 units and make my way up until my morning levels dropped.  Im 185 so based on that math I would take .37 units, which doesnt seem right.  Lantus is a basil level insulin released over 24 hours so with me doing 24 units it release a unit every hour.  Anything more than 24 units and my levels dip uncomfortably low.  How many units are you taking now and when?

Talk to your doctor about playing around with your dosages.  I take 24 units of Lantus before bed the take about 10 units of humalog (same thing as novalog) before every meal.  It seems to me that 12 units of lantus is a pretty small dosage and im surprised that you dont take any mid day novalog.  Do you get post lunch highs?  Obviously I dont know your diet and that can be a huge factor too.

In my EMT training we spent a week on diabetes.... definitely sounds like it has something with your food intake. Please check with your doctor.

you can play with the units yourself just monitor your blood sugar levels. up the lantus and use the novalog to compensate for carbs and sugars whenever you eat a meal.
