I've been having an issue with my Toshiba laptop over heating and randomly shutting off. Heard about laptop cooling pads but I'm wondering if they really work and is there a specific brand to look for?

yep my dell... my lil sis knocked it over the table fell vertically and the fan moved...because you can hear it... so i just use two books about 2 inches thick n stack em to keep the laptop from overheating i know it sucksDef dont work, one of your fans inside the comp is prob broken...had this issue with my old dell
Lol, which Toshiba do you have? I've been having the same problem with mine lately. I was thinking it was static electricity, but could be overheating. If so, taking it apart and cleaning the fan and surrounding areas would be a better solution.

I have the Satellite A505. I've read that this is a common problem with Toshibas. Guess I'll try to take it apart and clean the fan. Thanks for the advice guys.
