Do you think the NFL has a problem w. fan violence?

I have to cosign with Jking0821. Have a friend whose an eagles fan. He went to a game back in the 90's where the eagles hosted the Cowboys in the midst of thier 3-4 Superbowl run. A family of 4 came to sit in his section wearing Cowboys gear. There were 2 kids about 7 & 9 & people started cursing them out & by midway through the 1st quarter, eagles fans had been throwing beers & sodas at them. Then one idiot threw a thing of nachos & it hit the little boy & the cheese was running down his poor face. This family had to be escorted out.

As for raven (ratbirds) fans, I went to a Steeler/ravens game in Baltimore & saw this drunk idiot berate this guy & his son who was about 8 or so. Both were Steelers fans & he went on a tirade for 10 mins cursing them out like crazy. He was FUBRed. Luckily, a couple of good dudes broke it up & got security to escort the jerk out.

As time goes on, we're starting to see violence escalate in every facite of our society & it's def coming into sports. I have a 7 year old son & I would won't take him to a game until he's 15 or so.

Plus I'm fine watching a game in HD in my home theater & inviting friends/family.

 that's disgusting man.

its sad that a father and son cant enjoy a NFL game until the sons old enough to physical defend his self.

Taking a little "friendly" trash while watching a game is fun, but getting heated or getting into fights over sports is beyond stupid but it shows you what society has evolved to. Look at the idiot 'bama fan that poisoned the Toomer's Corner "Auburn" tree. It's just sports man, just sports.

There's this idoit I work with that get's all heated & talks trash where I work. One day he was talking so ilogically that I told him he proly would've thought the world was flat back in the day so I can him "world is flat" now & that's what I will always call him.

that solution is cut all alcohol sales at stadiums and ban it in the parking lot tailgates too
I hear ya but that will most likely never happen.  Teams make about half of more of their gameday revenue from beer sales alone, outside of TV contracts of course.  No team is going to cut their profit margin in half just because a few fights in or outside of the stadium every now and then.

I'm not a drinker but they will never ban or curb beer sales in staduims. Beer companies are the biggest sponsers for the NFL & sports in general. Shoot, if anyone read the ESPN book, ESPN proly wouldn't have survived if it weren't for beer companies...

i posted something similar on page 1 or 2,  it would never happen  plus i like to drink so i wouldn't support it anyways

i went to the last jets game at the old stadium and they banned beer sales for that game,  i ended up predrinking in the parking lot and playing beer pong with some random tailgate group instead.

that said a possible solution would be to hire security or plainclothes security and place 2 of them in every section of a stadium with possibly more in sections that have a history of problems.   the teams charge so much for tickets, parking, beer, food, and merchandice so they have the $$$ to hire more security and create a more secure presence at the very least.

That's cause Charger fans are ({})

No it's cause those Raider fans are from LA and those Charger fans are from SD and gangs in LA go hard.

Also, are there really eses in the Bay area. Srs, I grew up in SoCal so I didn't know they lived up there. I know Bulldogs live up that way.

Edit: I'm a Chargers fan so that offended me.

If violence contributes to the NFL atmosphere, than it could be said for the same functionality for other sports.

There is a HUUUUGE difference between a preaseason crowd and a regular season crowd.....and there is an even BIGGER difference between a preseason Battle of the Bay crowd and a regular season crowd. Come to a regular season game. You will see how different the fanbase is at a regular season game than at a preseason one. Most of the gangbangers are priced out of a regular season game.

Of course there are a handful of fights at some games, but this is not the norm. I know this game was bad, but there is a ton of misplaced attention from the media right now. This is NOT typical of a Niner crowd. This IS however typical of a Niner-Raider preseason game (sans the shootings).

(On a sidenote, trouble seems to follow the Raiders.  Obviously its not a reflection of the entire fanbase, but when some people identify more with the image of the team rather than the team, there will be problems.)
QFT. when theres raider nation, theres chaos.
Damn, this is just the reported incidents from Saturday

Game-night violence
Some of the incidents handled by San Francisco police at Saturday night's game at Candlestick Park between the 49ers and Raiders:

6:10 p.m.: Officers responded to a fight in lower-deck Section 13 involving two suspected gang members. One man was arrested on suspicion of battery after allegedly punching a bystander who tried to break up the fight.

6:30 p.m.: A man was seen assaulting a victim on the stadium concourse as bystanders watched. An officer tackled the suspect as the victim walked away. The suspect was cited and ejected.

7:05 p.m. Bicycle officers responding to reports of a fight in lower-deck Section 13 encountered an apparently drunken man who yelled, "Take their bikes!" and grabbed one of the officers' handlebars. He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

7:20 p.m.: A man standing in a restroom by sections 54-56 in the upper deck was grabbed by the neck and slammed into a wall. He lost consciousness, and the attacker fled. The victim was in fair condition Monday at San Francisco General Hospital. No arrests have been made.

7:30 p.m.: A man punched a stadium usher in Section 17 of the upper deck. A suspect was booked on suspicion of battery and being drunk in public.

8 p.m.: Officers responding to reports of a man with a gun in the RV section of the stadium parking lot found a man who had been shot in the leg and grazed in the face by bullets. He was taken to San Francisco General, where he was in fair condition. No one has been arrested.

8:10 p.m.: Officers broke up a "huge fight" in Section 36 of the upper deck, in which rival fans were throwing punches as others hurled beer and food. One suspect bit an officer and was booked on numerous charges.

9 p.m.: A man with several gunshot wounds to his torso appeared at Gate A of the parking lot. He told officers that he had driven his car for several minutes after being shot before stopping for help. He was taken to San Francisco General, where he was in fair condition Monday. No one has been arrested.

10 p.m.: Officers interviewed a patient at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in South San Francisco who said he was beaten up earlier that evening at Candlestick. The assailant was in the row behind him and repeatedly slapped his head during the game, the man said. When the victim confronted the man, he was punched in the face, suffering a chipped tooth.

I would love to go to a cowboys game in philly , and go in.........

Raiders fans get it in ........

Hey Plorico, I wouldn't make statements like that. I'm a 3rd degree black belt in TKD however I would not want to be in a mob enviroment which is what Philly would be like. If they have no regard for women & children, what do you think they'd do to a dude? I've been going to football games for years & have always seen fights. It seems like it gets more coverage now because the media is a lot more vast than it used to be. Shoot, you can find all kind of youtube clips of fights at NCAA bball & fball games along with NMA & NFL games. We live in a voilent society.

I don't mind drunk people at sporting events....but I can't stand drunk LAMES.  Folks who gotta say something cause u got the other team's jersey on....folks flexin' cause they got beer balls...etc etc.

I'm not sure if I can post the vid, but go on youtube and watch the HBO special on the Dead Tree Crew at FedEx.  These are some of the lames I'm talking about....folks in their 30s-40s who think they're in college.

It's all part of the societal shift to being "extreme." It's infiltrating everything. All this MMA-driven attitude trickles down into major sports and it makes some idiots at a baseball or football game treat it like it's backyard wrestling.

And the evolution of home viewing options is definitely keeping many people away from stadiums. It's cheaper and safer.

You didnt fix anything.  I am not a racist, but according to people I know who were at that game,  90% of the fights involved Mexicans.  At some point the political correctness needs to stop and a spade must be called a spade.
