Read this entire thread and decided that although I wouldn't mind looking through some of the stuff, it ultimatly may not be worth the risk.

Thank you for the response. I guess I was looking for something useful or informative. Something I can sit down and read as opposed to a
screen shot just showing me what sites are out there. Info on financial scandals or corruption in the business world is something of interest to me.
Anything on Legatus on there? Enron, Tyco? Any esoteric stuff as well. Alchemy?

I need the veterans to the "deep web" to give me some insight on what software I need to gear up with before diving in. I already have tor, hotspot shield, and AVG 2012. I heard about something called a "virtual machine" I was looking if someone could give me some info on that.

dig dig dig. or go to overdrome. its a clearweb site with plenty of the same info you can find while diving.
dude asking about VMs, get VMware Fusion and an OS of your choice (pref a small easy to use linux distro). if you got the browser package from torproject then youre mostly set. turn on the antivirus, have your firewall active, use tors bandwidth graph to keep an eye on your connection. cover your webcam. don't talk to strangers, especially russian ones.
VMs arent technically necessary but I use them depending on what I'm doing for added protection.

I think most people are just curious to know if this stuff really exists. Nobody is probably actively looking for gore-core porn (eh maybe some of you are) but seeing it to know it exists will satisfy the curiosity. That said, I'm staying on land

I really would not want to risk doing any digging on my personal laptop connected through my University's server, not that I would know how.
