What's the point of Drake's infiltration? Diabolic plot to get people singing more? Emasculation? Because masculinity is definitely based in violence and crime, right? If you're not a violent criminal, you can't be masculine, right? Insidious plan to hypnotize people into thinking Canada is cool?
Answer me that. Why would Satan/Jews work with Jay-Z, Kanye, and Drake when these guys AREN'T promoting things that are bad for Blacks or people in general? Isn't that the whole point of it?
Is Amare Stoudamire in on it too? Is that why he's been dropping 30+ for 9 games now?
It just disgusts me how feeble minded and easily scared Black people are. Especially in the face of successful Black people.

Even if i dont totally believe in a lotta viewpoints stated here, I will say that it's not a coincidence that Drake seemingly came outta nowhere. I do believe he was extremely well connected and had a push...his 3 mixtapes were stellar...but the rise didnt seem organic enough for me to think it was just off his sheer talent...even down to things like stage presence which an artist like Wiz learned to develop albeit that he was on the road a lot. If anything, Lyor said he was going to sign to Warner when he did a handshake agreement, but then he went to Sylvia's label. Lyor basically said that younger artists dont understand how to keep a handshake agreement. For someone like Lyor to be upset over missing out on Drake and to say what he said in the Complex intv (http://www.complex.com/music/2010/05/lyor-cohen) something's telling me there was more to it. Label heads are notorious for going out on limbs to get artists to sign. Ya'll heard about Tyler and Steve Rifkind and Lyor going to Long Beach for Warren G and all that.
I'd also heard how Drake's contract was worth like 2 Mil and he kept like 75% of the sales. Especially if they didnt 360 him, it makes it even more interesting.
One thing you all seem to have overlooked about Drake is that, whether or not he's "talented" in your opinions....homie has an unusually good sense of melody. Melody is basically the essence of music and the blueprint of what you listen to. His melodies and songs are constructed in a way so that he appeals to the ear. Think about his songs and how they're so easy to remember...then think about how they sound when you hear them in a club booming. Cats like Drake, Wayne, Ye, and Jay-z have the same thing down pat. It's all how your ear recognizes music and sends it to your brain and Drake has mastered that.
Then you add all the other stuff...he's mixed, non threatening, has shown great marketing potential and execution....and even the fact that he's extremely calculating in his interviews. I read his interviews and I get the same thing from Jay-z: they're both good at feeding what they want the interviewer to believe, even if you dont get the vibe that they're letting it all out. It's more for intrigue's sake because like Jay said he basically told the same story 10+ albums over.
Regardless, what homie said about the industry being fraternal is all true. All the powers that be are all old rivals and comrades and either started out together then branched off or were competitors who decided to fall in lin e w/ each other. Doug Morris used to be at Universal now he's at Sony. Lyor used to be at Def Jam under Universal, now he's Warner's CEO. They're all in league with each other at the end of the day. What was a shocker to me was that they appointed a black chairman, Gee Roberson at the HNIC at Geffen.
If you dont know...Gee formerly was a head A&R at Rocafella working with Jay-z and was one of the founders of Hip Hop Since 1978, who brought Kanye West to the world.....who partnered up with Cortez Bryant and now co manages Lil Wayne...who formerly had Jeezy under the HH1978 umbrella before he went with Kevin Liles management.....who also manages Just Blaze and Drake under the HHs1978 umbrella....Who formerly was SVP or A7R at Atlantic Records with Hop being a top dog at Columbia Records.
It's all connected. Nothing is coincidence. Even now, you all will begin to see a more concerted push for hip hop in the media. Yo Raps will be coming back briefly. XXL will get chatter going with their 2012 Freshman list pretty soon. Spin did that article on the new jacks in hip hop. Cats like Childish Gambino are getting press in The NY Daily News. VH1 is doing a show for TI and Tiny. It's all a cycle.
It's so easy (not really but you get my drift) to get shine these days. If an artist puts out one solid mixtape and or a free album the buzz will come. After the buzz starts to grow the said artist goes on a mini club tour, creates a twitter, vblog, music videos etc. IMO the biggest hurdle artist have to overcome is clearing samples. Everything else can be handled by the artist team, usually his crew or homeboys.
