Wow, that's a looser than I had hoped but I'll just have to see what happens when I try mine when they get in :\ Either way, I expect them to be worn with a jacket always so I'm not too worried. I know I could always get them taken in at the tailor.

Anyways, NY DB fam, what's good? I got an interview in the city on Wednesday at 11, then no plans after that. Meet ups 8o

This could happen, but it would have to be at around 6. Wife has to work until 8 this Wednesay FTL
I'm going to PM you my number. Not sure if I'd be around that late, but if I ever am up again and the meet can happen, numbers will be a lot easier for contact purposes :lol

Sounds like a plan! I unfortunately work until 5:30 so there is no way I'd be able to go meet up any earlier.

No problem 1stWitit!

Good luck as well for Wes and Adrian...already know you guys nail your respective interviews :smokin

What's everyone's opinion on knit ties? More specifically, knit ties with suits (and not the usual blazer/denim combo we tend to see them paired with)?

I love them. My dad had a lot of them from back in the day that he let me have, plus I've bought a great amount myself. Half of my tie collection is probably knit ties and I own about 40+ ties.

Speaking of ties, can anyone reference me where to find a small tie clip that's not expensive? I only have one for standard sized ties and those tend to not look right with thinner ties. I had a small tie clip before, but ended up losing it. :rolleyes I got that one from Macy's for $25, but I haven't seen them in store anymore since then.

I want a navy 3 piece which will likely be from SuitSupply or Indochino, I'm still on the fence on a DB suit for me, since I doubt I'd wear it much.

Double breasted with peak lapel is money. Can't wait to get one, it'll be a couple of years though more than likely.

I may be wrong but aren't peak lapels on double breasted suits the norm?

As soon as I posted that I got a call for a phone interview tomorrow lol

Congrats to Wes and Adrian on the job interviews :hat :hat

yeah, now that I think of it I've only seen them with peak lapels. Looked into it a bit and saw that notch was popular during the 80's....wasn't a good look

We should have a friendly competition in here to see who can amass the largest net worth by the time they're 30.

Who's in?

Loser buys everyone a tie bar (I know, not that $, but what do you expect if they lost a net worth contest? :p )

:lol, y'all are my boys in here and all. But I don't even feel comfortable sharing how much I make with my irl friends right now and it's pennies.

Haha, I'm the opposite way.

I couldn't care less about sharing with you guys because I'll never meet you guys :p (minus Wis and some of my real-life friends who participate on NT).

Income is a pretty touchy subject even among close friends. I never understood this until I started working in a professional setting. I do share my income with other friends in the same field though to ensure our salaries are within range.

Keep in mind, everyone has different lifestyle. Anyone can become rich if they penny pinch enough but where's the fun in that. There is a book called "The Millionaire Next Door" that I read many years ago that talked about this. I studied hard, I work hard so I can have an income that supports the lifestyle I like. Just my 2 cents.

Question: Should a knit tie (with the squared end) reach the belt when tied?

A LOT of times, I've seen them tied much shorter. My knit ties are short compared to my regular ties.
