Not sure if any of you heard this, but Amazon is thinking of doing small deliveries by drone. Of course when you start something, it pushes the limits eventually. I don't like where this might be headed. What do you think?

I'm gonna figure out a way to hack em.

Then use em as drug runners. If they get caught, no way for them to trace it back to me.

:hat

But naw, its a good idea. But the ramifications (lost jobs, drone malfunctions, more lost packages, etc) may outweigh the good.

All kinds of lawsuits waiting to happen. You already know people are gonna order a heavy load and have someone suddenly pop up under the drone for that quick liability come up. Dudes are gonna be camped out under the bushes waiting to get landed on by a drone. :lol

And then the jacking is going to be legendary. I'm predicting not only cargo gets stolen, but the drones themselves. How long before the cartels slap an amazon sticker/paint job on a drone for that covert yay drop after this takes off? 8o

For now the weight limit is 5lbs, but I'm sure if this type of delivery is allowed, they will find some way to increase the weight limit, and that's were it would get interesting.

I'll give it ten years before its the norm if everything goes well. if Amazon(or whoever) do testing in different markets and see how the drone plays out will tell all.

You can be sure to expect these crashing into birds, airplanes, helicopters, street lights, lamposts, trees. I say dont do it!

Cartel been using drones before the US Border Patrol even did.

Birds are much more advanced at flying than any drones. What's actually pretty common is that birds will attack the drone for invading their territory.

Only certain payloads can go on these cheap drones. The bigger the payload, the more battery capacity or fuel capacity that is needed, and also the more unstable the flight becomes. It won't be doing away with regular Ground or Air delivery. We're talking 5-10 lbs at the very max.
