espn's gay propaganda is a new low

I just thought dude wanted to be treated like everyone else, a football player.

That's my only beef with the coverage of Mike Sam. I understand it to some extent but I also think ESPN (like usual) is taking it to another level.

I just wonder that the fact ESPN is giving it so much attention, how does that affect others who have yet to come out? Do they want that attention? Will they get that if they do come out? In that sense I feel the coverage is counter intuitive.

They won't get as much attention because they won't be the first.  Michael Sam broke down the barrier.  It was a milestone for the NFL as well for our society as a whole.  Why people fail to realize this is beyond me.

Ya but you don't know that though.

I have no problem admitting I'm wrong when the next player comes out and there is not so much as a headline, but I'll be shocked if that's the case.

Imagine someone like a Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, a superstar player coming out, will the attention be less? No way in hell.

Them being a superstar would be the only real variable that would give it more attention.

Does anyone remember the second black MLB player?  No...but everyone remembers Jackie Robinson.

Like dude said, you can't really compare gay and lesbian... Being a lesbian is so much more accepted in sports and society... It's so weird to me how people perceive that...

And you know that these guys that preach "gay is wrong", jerk it to lesbian porn...

if by "ratings" you mean "illuminati efforts to turn you gay" then sure, I can see where you're coming from.

 Too good

Super stars get extra attention no matter what... Your point makes no sense.

Of course it'd be a big story... Dudes who think its "disgusting" would likely flock to ESPN to see just so they can double back and ridicule it.

I'd be willing to bet that if you took an equal amount of people from each side of this argument, the ones who think its repulsive have probably seen the footage more times than the people who couldn't care less what his sexual orientation is.

 True

I don't have any issue with the story itself, my issue is with ESPN coverage, however my issue with ESPN isn't Mike Sam specific now that I think about it. If LeBron, Tiger Woods, ARoid, is in the news its the same type of OD coverage.

I don't think this story can be advanced any further until training camp starts and then we find out if he makes the team. Until then the coverage is redundant IMO

LOL @ the dudes starting their posts by saying "I'm all for gay marriage" or "I'm about as liberal as they come" then complaining about how gross gay men are.

ESPN showed Russell, RG3, all those dudes with their wives and girlfriends celebrating. Lauren Tannehill and Katherine Webb were on our televisions for a week. The national championship was on and all you dudes wanted to talk about was AJ's girlfriend.

But show two men kissing and its "ESPN never shows the other side, they just want to push their gay agenda!!!

"

Just call it what it is. Don't dress up your feelings in faux outrage about something completely different. You don't want to see two men kiss on your television. It's fine. Come out with it.

Michael Sam didn't get more air time than Johnny.  The difference is Johnny didn't make you feel weird when he got picked.
Great post Nako, repped!
and thats the problem
a lot of people here dont understand comparisons

the specifics of whats being compared is what matters
but you got simpletons on NT that if the comparison isnt a perfect match they cant grasp it
Exactly!

You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Jackie Robinson was good though. Michael Sam may not make the season opener. Like Jason Collins, he's a mediocre pro talent at best. You don't think BSPN over did it? What was the purpose of covering it in a gay bar. He does want the attention whether you want to admit it or not and teams passed on him in addition to football reasons.

Rhythm808 got his 5 minutes of "fame" with his boycott ESPN thread, literally  losers

Jackie Robinson definitely wasn't bad, but talent wise he wasn't some super highly touted prospect... but he got the press too because he was the first handsome, well spoken, super marketable black dude the white media had seen.

And I mean Michael Sam was defensive player of the year in the best defensive conference so obviously he's not BAD either...

It's not like they grabbed some random no name D2 kid who got an invite to the combine just cuz he's gay. Sam balled out at Mizzou. Let's take nothing away from him.
