EXPLOSION @ Boston Marathon

A couple recent posts in this thread should be reported by moderators to authorities. If you don't like this country or the people in it who are extremely patriotic and proud, leave. If you honestly believe that chants of USA or cheers for the Boston PD were untimely or ill-intentioned, leave.

Im tired of people who take these abstract views and turn their mouth into their butthole. No American wants to hear about the rights of someone chucking grenades and pressure cooker bombs at police. If you are innocent and being set up by America, you see your picture on the news and turn yourself in immediately. You don't go shooting it out with the fuzz and cooking bb stew.

And this is coming from someone who firmly believes that the one building falling during 9/11 was extremely suspect. I'm not pro-government or a 100% congress backer, but damn give this tired anti-American sentiment up. I've been to other countries and seen how the world lives, trust me, you don't want to live anywhere else. Listen to the interviews with all these immigrants saying how wonderful it is to be in America. Then you have the older brother mad because he can't make it and finds Islam and blows Americans up. I've never been a proponent for big brother like monitoring of the Internet, but if someone has 30 YouTube videos in support of terrorism and extremist groups, I'll give up my Greg Jennings touchdooowwwwn privacy to find them.

Whoa, bruh.

Whoa.

I don't agree at all with what these guys are saying, but YOUR statement is the most un-American thing posted in this entire thread.

The fact that you would rather not protect these dude's rights to voice their opinions is a real problem. Because THAT'S what a real American would do.

I hope you're being sarcastic, because even though these are just conspiracy theories these dudes are throwing around, if that's your real opinion then that is scary.

The crux of many of these conspiracy theories not working is that people aren't THAT dumb. But you really are. And that scares me more than anything else said in this thread.

Russia’s North Caucasus Rebels Deny Link to Boston Bombings

Rebels in Russia’s North Caucasus region denied any link to the April 15 attack on the Boston Marathon in a statement posted on the vdagestan.com website.

“The Caucasian Mujahedeen are not fighting with the United States of America,” according to the statement, which was attributed to unidentified Mujahedeen commanders in Dagestan. “We are at war with Russia, which is responsible not only for the occupation of the Caucasus, but also for heinous crimes against Muslims.”

An FBI-led probe is looking into a six-month trip suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, an immigrant of Chechen descent, took around two years ago to Chechnya and neighboring Dagestan, both regions of Russia that have been embroiled in Islamist separatist movements.

Tamerlan, 26, was killed during a gunfight with the police after two explosions on April 15 near the finish line of the Boston Marathon that left three dead and more than 170 people wounded. His 19-year-old brother, Dzhokar, is being held in a Boston hospital where he is in serious condition after being taken into custody April 19.

vdagestan.com claims to be the official website of what it terms the “Dagestan Province of the Caucasus Emirate” and features calls for jihad and images of Islamist fighters.

i wouldn't call it an excuse. treason is what they've committed. so treason would be reason enough to lose those rights.
They did not commit treason. I also disagree with him not being read his Miranda Rights. No matter what he did, sadly, he is a US citizen and is owed due process under the Constitution.

K, brah

Why is it ignorant to say that people were only chanting USA because they had Russian ties?

Cause you're ignoring how unique this situation is. This is nothing, NOTHING like the other attacks we've had. This guy was found and on the run for 24 hours, had a major US city on LOCKDOWN and most importantly, the whole capture was very public with play-by-play updates all day long. Once his brother was killed with a suicide bomb vest on him, people assumed that there was no way he was going to be taken alive. If he just gave himself up after the bombing, no one would chant. (like the recent shooters we've had) If the cops kept this whole situation under wraps, no one would chant. There was a lot going on here. It was absolutely crazy that on Reddit you could follow the entire situation.

By assuming that people are only chanting because this guy is foreign ignores a large part of the situation AND assumes the absolute worst in people. I admit people are pretty terrible and racist in general but this was a unique situation that encouraged a unique response.

bombing the boston marathon on PATRIOTS day with the intent of doing harm to the united states. i would call that treason, and by doing so they gave up their rights as americans.

All that happiness is inappropriate.

What's with the strawman? Why do you continually distort my position?

I've clearly said it numerously that I have no problem with people celebrating after this whole ordeal.

I have a problem with how they're celebrating.

Is it that difficult for you to comprehend the difference?

I understand your position perfectly, but I think it's stupid so I will mock it as I please.

a) not that it changes how bad the act was, I wouldn't classify this as treason (unless it's discovered later that they were acting on behalf of another country). not a big deal either way -- just depends on how you want to define it.

b) i don't think you give up any rights as an american until you are proven guilty in court. but maybe under the patriot act you do? not sure.

c) reading him his miranda rights would only mean that anything he says at this point would be permissible in court. however, if they already have enough evidence to prosecute him, then it doesn't change much either way if they did or didn't read him his miranda rights. it won't change due process. the only point right now (from what i can tell) is to find out as quickly as possible if there are other bombs or other people he was working with. and this falls under the public safety exception. that said, i'm not sure why they wouldn't take the extra 30 seconds to read him his rights, even if it is completely unnecessary.

d) i'm not an expert on law so my interpretation of these things could be wrong.

You can say it's stupid or mock it as much as you want. Though in doing so, you add nothing to the discussion. I suspect this may be your intention.

Why are you distorting my position? You've done it multiple times in addition to personal attacks. I've been nothing but civil and respectful with you and everyone else.

not to derail...but a friend and i was talking about this..and how easily this will be implemented in society seeing how ppl post online pics by the hundreds/thousands with relatively the same poses/looks then try as much as they can to duplicate that look in the public eye. Not trying to make a conspiracy thread derail or anything,,,but it would be a very hard thing to do to get a database for a nationwide facial recognition. Just use ppl info, in which they already have ala ssn etc...and name and simple google search and pretty much scour twitter/facebook/instagram/pof/okc so on and so forth.
Man it's really hard to even imagine the scope of data the intelligence agencies do have, especially given that they do use private agency databases as well. The thing about it is that most don't pay attention to it, nor can they do anything about it. Just to give an example, most wouldn't readily know that CIA has an investment firm that funds upstart companies that would benefit their efforts. Google Earth is a big product of this. And it is legal . All the information is released, but it isn't always reported or receive wide response when it's put on the books.

It's why I think the timing and the details released during and after were a crock of ..

The backpack that Djohar Tsarnaev was carrying was White and the backpack at the explosion was Black with a Grey colored strap doesn't even look similar.

There are pictures showing 2 other men dressed in khaki colored pants/black coat with a hat who have the similar type of backpacks and seen leaving the scene without the backpacks. I somewhat doubt that these two "Suspect" brothers are guilty.

Try again my friend that's a tan/biege colored backpack near their feet.
