*Homeowner Chronicles* lol.

So, when I got my home, the previous owner left a brand new lawnmower that was never used. Even had the plastic wrap around the engine block. So, yesterday, I wanted to cut my backyard grass. Obviously, this is my very first time using a lawnmower(lived in an apartment my whole life), so I was somewhat embarrassed. I installed it based off what the instructions said. I put in the oil that came with it and put in fuel with the additives.

I did everything to try to crank it up, but it would not start. I don’t know if it’s something I’m doing wrong, but I need help lol. Anyone here can give me some guidance on how to start this? Lol.

Here are the pics.

Yes, I put in the grass catcher that came with it, also, these pics were before I fully installed everything. Again, it’s brand spanking new.

If this helps, it’s a Craftsman Lawnmower model 247.377050

Any help will be appreciated.

I don’t see the cord you pull to start it in the first picture. Enter the model on YouTube. That’s your best bet.

The cord is up, the pics were taken before I fully assembled the lose parts

Try checking the fuel shut-off valve. You may have to turn it so the fuel can flow.

Did you fill the oil to the full line?

Did you hold the safety bar down while cranking?

(I doubt this have a primer) Did you press the primer bulb before cranking? (Rubber bulb on the side of the engine - press 3-5 times before cranking)

Does it have spark pulls wire? It’s near the front of the engine. Might need to be connected.

Did you put fresh gas in? Get the old gas out (flip the lawnmower upside down) and put fresh unleaded gas.

1.Make sure oil level is good
2.Make sure you you have gas and that gas valve is turned on
3. Turn on the choke (that helps feed gas to the carburator).
4. Prime it (press the plastic bubble 4x's)
5. Pull the string

Looks like you have two handles. One engages the blade the other makes the wheels turn to pull along the way (self propelled). Depending on your grass type try not cut no more than 2 inches off the top.

Lawn & pest control is my thing also as homeowner YouTube will become your best friend.

Good luck, you’ll hate it soon! But naw it could be therapeutic

Legit if you type into chatgpt describe the model and your problem it’ll solve it for you. I’ve gotten so many good answers and fixes this way

To start a Craftsman lawnmower model 247.377050, ensure the engine is properly oiled and fueled, engage the blade control, insert the starter key (if applicable), and pull the recoil starter rope. For electric start models, push the starter button after engaging the blade control. If using a primer, squeeze it three times before pulling the rope.

Idk what any of that means.

I'm guessing lawyers, I've never seen them with two levers to hold down

It’s only on self propelled mowers. One lever is the kill switch which shuts it off if you take your hands off. The other is basically a gas pedal to propel it forward.

Oh yeah I know that I used to have one.

I just thought it was some new safety thing on push mowers. I’m like damn that would be annoying
