on pictures is hard to tell but 2001 royals are slighty darker with a shinier finish while the cobalt are more of a matte finish in person the difference is obvious

I will say that the leather around the laces is an upgrade imo. It increases the shoes longevity.

Only reason the cobalts lose is that blue sole.
