FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

There was a long line for these mochi donuts at Mitsuwa market in San Jose. They are from Honolulu Hawaii and they opened a pop up shop for two weeks, tomorrow their last day. Might go back to buy them. Those that had them are they worth the wait?

There’s a similar shop that just opened in Japantown in SF almost 2 months ago. I’ve posted it here. I like them a lot. Green tea is my favorite, not too sweet. It looks like regular donuts but the texture is kinda like a mochi but not quite. Seems like it’s not as fatty as a regular donut too because it’s not fried I believe. Here’s the link to the one in Japantown if you miss the one at the Mitsuwa Market

Modo is fried to order. They had a 2 dozen limit. I'll try it tomorrow and if they're really good and I'm in the area I'll give them a visit. When I saw them fried up I thought they were eggette waffles lol

The one in SF is prob fried as well. I was just assuming it’s not because it doesn’t seem like it when you eat it. Almost feels like it’s baked. I think you’ll like it. It does look like those eggettes at first glance but texture not the same either.

safeway my dude
their brand
they have hickory and applewood
I'll check it out. I wanna try Cherry wood bacon too

When ya'll meal prep do you freeze some of them? I can't do that third day, especially chicken. Can't stand the smell of old chicken.

Refrigerate and microwave with the lid on to get some steam action so the food isn't as dry. Taste pretty much the same as the first day of being refrigerated

Cherrywood is legit
Love it for my bacon sandwiches
I find that at Safeway too
But it’s not a Vons/Safeway brand

I never freeze cooked food.

Quality decreases too much for my tastes.

But I saw you said you had a vacuum sealer, I don't have one of those.

I don't mind eating stuff for 3-4 days.

I get the "chicken smell" though.

They had a popup at the Mitsuwa out here in Torrance. Seems like the hype was legit because the 2 times we tried to get in line, we missed the cut off.
